New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Education degree from Malone University in Canton, Ohio. My scope of practice includes anxiety, trauma, anger management, addictions, adjustment disorders, attention difficulties, and supporting individuals (16+) wherever there is a desire for growth. In my free time, you can find me spending time with my family, playing the accordion, or knitting. I also love humor in session when appropriate.
During our first session, I will be gathering information and getting to know you. We will use that time for me to gain an understanding of what we will be working on together.
I try to stay curious. You will find that I ask questions and give gentle pushes to help move you forward. I am also a solution-focused counselor, so be prepared for some light homework from time to time.
I love to see a motivated client. Clients who are wanting to make positive changes in their lives to get the results they desire are my favorite. I prefer to work with adults of any age. We can work through current issues and anxieties, past experiences and traumas, or upcoming concerns. I am here to guide you through whatever journey you are on.
Christian Counseling
If Christianity is important to you, we can use it to explore coping skills, mindfulness, finding hope, and coming to a place of peace.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I believe Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the cornerstone of making real-life, long-term changes. We will use it to look at how we can modify our behaviors to achieve your counseling goals.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a way to help you reflect and process the topic we are discussing while keeping me in the position of interviewer. With this approach, you are really in the driver's seat.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I believe you are the expert of your life, and with Person Centered Therapy, just like Motivational Interviewing, you will guide the session. My role with this approach is to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment where you are able to resolve your own challenges.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Sometimes we just need a solution, so I use Solution Focused Brief Treatment. This method is just how it sounds. We are going to look at the problem and brainstorm possible ways to tackle it together.
