I am a compassionate, client-centered therapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with confidence and resilience. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences while working toward meaningful personal growth. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and tailored to each person's unique needs and goals. As a licensed therapist, I believe everyone deserves a space to feel heard, understood, and empowered. I work with adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, and life transitions. My therapeutic style combines empathy, respect, and evidence-based techniques to help clients develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional well-being, and achieve their personal goals. Together, we create a treatment plan that reflects your unique strengths, values, and aspirations. With specialized training in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care, I possess extensive experience assisting individuals through the complexities of depression, anxiety, and trauma, including adverse childhood experiences. I maintain a professional yet approachable demeanor, providing an inclusive environment for members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals navigating the impacts of racism, and allies seeking a dedicated space for clinical support.

First session

During the initial intake session, we will review your unique presenting problems, current symptoms, and relevant history to establish an accurate baseline for tracking your progress. This session lays the foundation for your therapeutic journey, allowing us to collaboratively explore your treatment goals and discuss strategies that will best assist you in overcoming life's challenges. Together, we will create a customized treatment plan that reflects your personal strengths, values, and goals, ensuring you are fully supported in developing healthier coping strategies, improving your emotional well-being, and successfully achieving your absolute best self.

Strengths

I integrate my professional background as a school teacher directly into my therapeutic style, blending educational principles with clinical practice. As a former teacher, I utilize psychoeducation during my sessions to help clients clarify their emotional experiences. I firmly believe that acquiring and understanding specific mental health vocabulary helps individuals develop profound personal insight, which serves as the foundational catalyst to their overall healing journey. Within my practice, I provide a consistently safe, structured place tailored to effectively regulate complex emotions and process deep-seated feelings. While I am deeply compassionate, empathetic, and supportive in my clinical approach, I will intentionally push back and challenge clients when it is clinically necessary to promote accountability and facilitate meaningful breakthroughs.

Ideal clients

Many of my clients are being faced with the challenge of navigating a hostile world and learning how to heal from childhood trauma. They are working hard to break cycles of physical, emotional, and verbal abuse, often stemming from adverse childhood experiences such as living with mentally unstable or substance-dependent caregivers. My clients are learning how their negative core beliefs—such as feelings of vulnerability, worthlessness, and being unlovable—fuel the self-sabotaging behaviors that then keep them from healing. Through therapeutic modalities like Talk Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma-Informed Care, they learn to identify how these deeply ingrained thoughts affect their feelings and behaviors. My clients are learning to sit with their depression and anxiety rather than avoiding or escaping the distress. They are actively developing and implementing healthy coping mechanisms—including deep breathing, journaling, mindfulness, and sensory grounding exercises—to effectively regulate complex emotions, challenge irrational thoughts, and work through intrusive thoughts on their journey toward recovery and improved daily functioning.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, short-term form of talk therapy designed to help individuals connect their thoughts, feelings, and actions. By teaching people to identify negative or inaccurate thinking patterns and test them against reality, CBT empowers them to change their behaviors effectively. Through this and other therapeutic modalities like Talk Therapy and Trauma-Informed Care, clients learn how deeply ingrained thoughts impact their emotions and conduct.
