About me

The best time to begin or restart your healing journey is now. I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor based in California and earned my Master of Science degree from National Louis University in Illinois in 2004. I provide comprehensive psychotherapy services with a culturally competent approach, honoring the impact of culture, socioeconomic factors, and ethnicity on mental health. I use evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to help clients manage anxiety, heal from trauma, improve mood, reduce stress and burnout, reframe negative core beliefs, and manage anger effectively. My approach focuses on creating a safe, nurturing, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel supported and empowered. I also understand the complexities of addiction and can help you assess your relationship with substances, supporting you in finding a recovery path that works best for you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll begin with brief introductions and discuss what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask questions to better understand your challenges, history, and goals, and together we’ll begin outlining a plan tailored to your needs. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share what you’re hoping to gain from therapy, and start building a safe, collaborative space where you feel supported and heard.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

With over 20 years of experience, I’ve developed a practical, results-driven approach that empowers clients to uncover the root causes of their challenges and create clear, actionable plans for growth. What sets my work apart is my ability to integrate evidence-based methods with a compassionate, culturally sensitive perspective. This combination helps clients make meaningful, measurable progress in their healing, emotional well-being, and personal development.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals who are motivated to make positive changes but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start. Many of my clients struggle with emotional or interpersonal challenges, social anxiety, trauma reactions, or the lasting impact of domestic violence. They often feel anxious, have difficulty making decisions, and want to find healthier ways to cope and move forward. My approach helps clients build healthier thought patterns and beliefs about themselves and the world, creating a foundation for adaptive coping skills, improved self-care, and greater confidence in daily life. Whether your goals are personal, academic, or professional, I am here to help you gain the tools you need to achieve them.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have extensive experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in individual. CBT helps clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. Through this approach, I teach practical coping strategies and problem-solving skills that promote healthier thinking and behavior. By integrating these tools, clients experience improved emotional well-being, reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression, and greater confidence in managing life’s challenges. My goal is to empower clients to create lasting, positive changes that support a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I have been utilizing Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for over six years with individuals who have experienced trauma or abuse. This evidence-based approach helps clients understand how trauma has shaped their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world. In CPT, we identify “stuck points”, unhelpful thoughts and beliefs that keep individuals trapped in cycles of distress, and work to reframe them in healthier, more balanced ways. This process helps reduce PTSD symptoms, improve emotional well-being, and support lasting healing and recovery.

Motivational Interviewing

I have extensive experience using Motivational Interviewing (MI) with adults navigating substance use challenges and other behavior changes. This person-centered, non-confrontational approach helps clients explore and resolve ambivalence, empowering them to make meaningful, lasting changes. By fostering collaboration and supporting autonomy, MI helps adults build the motivation and confidence needed to take actionable steps toward their personal goals and overall well-being.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have been utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for over ten years to help individuals manage intense emotions and improve their relationships. This evidence-based approach focuses on building skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. By integrating acceptance and change strategies, DBT empowers clients to cope more effectively with emotional difficulties, reduce self-destructive behaviors, and create healthier, more balanced lives.
