I’m a pretty laid-back person and that carries over into how I do therapy. I enjoy working with teens and adults and helping people work through whatever life has put in front of them. I don’t expect you to have everything figured out or always know the right thing to say. None of us do. I just want you to be able to come in, be yourself, and know we can figure things out from there.
The first session is really just a chance for us to talk and get to know each other. I’ll ask what brought you in, what life has been like lately, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. There’s no pressure to come in with everything figured out. We’ll take our time, talk through things, and see where we need to start.
I think one of my strengths is that I can meet people where they are without making everything feel so serious or clinical. I’m going to listen, but I’m also going to talk to you. I’ll ask questions, give my perspective, challenge you when I need to, and laugh with you when we can. I’m big on giving people the benefit of the doubt and understanding that there are usually different sides to things. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be willing to be real with me, and I’ll do the same.
I work best with teens and adults who have a lot going on and are trying to make sense of it. You may be dealing with anxiety, ADHD, stress, relationships, family issues, or just feeling stuck. You don’t have to know exactly what you want from therapy. If you’re willing to talk, be honest, and look at things from a different perspective, we can figure out the rest together.
I use CBT to help you slow things down and look at how your thoughts, feelings, and actions connect. Sometimes we get stuck in patterns without realizing it. We’ll work together to recognize those patterns, figure out what’s actually helping or hurting, and find different ways to handle things when they come up.
