New to Grow
I'm Amanda Miller, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and EMDR-trained therapist who is passionate about helping adolescents and adults navigate life's challenges with confidence and resilience. I believe therapy should be a collaborative, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as you work toward meaningful change. I have experience working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, life transitions, relationship concerns, grief, stress, and substance use. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, struggling to process difficult experiences, or simply looking for a healthier way to cope, I'm here to help you identify your strengths and build practical tools that support lasting growth. My approach is individualized and evidence-based, drawing from EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and trauma-informed care. Together, we'll create a treatment plan that aligns with your unique goals, values, and experiences. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate environment where healing feels possible and progress is celebrated one step at a time. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they gain insight, strengthen resilience, and create a life that feels more balanced, fulfilling, and authentic.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it's completely normal to feel nervous or unsure about what to expect. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself without fear of judgment. During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know one another. I'll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, your personal history, and what you hope to accomplish through counseling. We'll also discuss your strengths, any previous therapy experiences, and any questions you have about the process. Together, we'll begin identifying your goals and create a plan that feels realistic and meaningful to you. While the first session is primarily focused on gathering information and building rapport, I also want you to leave feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the path ahead. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable while working toward the changes that matter most to you.
I believe one of the greatest strengths I bring to therapy is my ability to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted. I understand that reaching out for support can be difficult, so I strive to build a trusting, collaborative relationship where you can be yourself without fear of judgment. My approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, and tailored to your unique needs rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. I integrate evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients gain insight, develop practical coping skills, and create lasting change. Together, we'll identify what works best for you and adjust our approach as your needs evolve. Clients often appreciate that I balance empathy with honest, supportive feedback. I will meet you where you are while also encouraging growth, accountability, and progress toward your goals. Whether you're working through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, or simply trying to better understand yourself, my goal is to help you build resilience, increase confidence, and create a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling. I consider therapy a partnership. You are the expert on your life, and I bring clinical knowledge, guidance, and support to help you navigate challenges and recognize the strengths you already possess. My hope is that every session leaves you feeling empowered, understood, and one step closer to the life you want to create.
I work best with adults and adolescents who are ready to better understand themselves, heal from difficult experiences, and create meaningful, lasting change. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, or stress. Others may feel stuck in unhealthy patterns, struggle with setting boundaries, or have difficulty managing emotions and communicating their needs. I have a special interest in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and are looking for a safe, supportive space to process their experiences and move forward. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I enjoy helping clients reduce the impact of distressing memories while building healthier coping skills and greater resilience. My ideal clients don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. They simply need a willingness to show up and be open to the process. Whether you're seeking relief from current challenges, working toward personal growth, or hoping to build healthier relationships, we'll work together to identify your goals and develop practical strategies that fit your life. I strive to create an environment where you feel respected, understood, and empowered. My goal is to help you gain insight, strengthen your confidence, and build the tools you need to navigate life's challenges long after therapy ends.
Other specialties
I identify as
EMDR
As an EMDR-trained therapist, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process distressing memories and experiences that may continue to affect their thoughts, emotions, and daily lives. EMDR can be helpful for trauma, anxiety, depression, negative self-beliefs, and other experiences that feel difficult to move past. I always begin by building coping skills and ensuring you feel prepared before starting trauma processing. EMDR is integrated thoughtfully into treatment and used at a pace that feels safe and appropriate for your individual needs and goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we'll identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge beliefs that may be keeping you stuck, and develop healthier ways of coping with life's challenges. CBT is a practical, goal-oriented approach that can be effective for concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and life transitions, while helping you build skills you can continue using long after therapy ends.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore their thoughts and feelings about change in a supportive, nonjudgmental way. Rather than telling you what to do, I work alongside you to identify your personal strengths, values, and motivations so you can make decisions that align with the life you want to build. MI is especially helpful for clients who feel stuck, ambivalent about change, or are working toward goals related to relationships, substance use, health, or personal growth.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I use a Person-Centered approach to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to provide empathy, acceptance, and guidance as you gain greater self-awareness and confidence. By building a strong therapeutic relationship, we can work together to help you overcome challenges, recognize your strengths, and move toward the life you want to create.
