My name is Rachel Cash. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and trauma specialist. My experience and background in providing treatment has been in community mental health and substance use. I have always been passionate about trauma work and my experience has only reinforced this passion. While I’ve worked with a wide variety of symptoms, presenting issues, and individuals, the one common theme that I've noticed is most, if not all, of these individuals have trauma. I’m also a practical person. I believe that, if trauma is at the root of your anxiety, relationship issues, addiction, sleep issues, low self-esteem, etc, then working to heal that past trauma makes the most sense in getting symptom relief.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

First and foremost, I want to get to know you and the goals you have for therapy. I want to make sure your voice is heard and that you leave the session feeling seen, respected and valued as a person. I may ask you some unfished intake questions but I generally like to spend the first session getting to know what is important to you. I respect timing and understand that it may take a while to discuss some topics, and that's okay!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My personal values of authenticity, respect, trust, and honesty serve me well in being a safe space for individuals with trauma, who many times, have had their trust, safety and relationships with other people broken. I have been told countless times by clients that I am easy to talk to, empathetic, warm, and trustworthy. I take human relationships very seriously in both my personal and professional lives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals through the therapeutic process, regardless of what goals you bring to session. However, I’m especially passionate about healing trauma. I know the impact that trauma has on the body and daily functioning. I also know just how big of a step it can be to begin trauma work. Maybe you’ve been in therapy a while but feel stuck in your trauma progress or maybe you’re brand new to therapy or even overwhelmed at the idea of getting started in therapy. Regardless of where you’re at in your therapy journey, my mission is to provide you with a safe, warm, and confidential space and to meet you where you’re at and guide you through your healing journey. Another thing that I love about trauma work is that the modalities I use are holistic, in that they address trauma throughout the whole body, not just the mind. They also do not require medication to be effective at reducing your distress. Some of my focus areas are anxiety, grief, childhood trauma, relationship trauma, and traumatic grief. Some populations I enjoy working with are young adults, military/veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, etc. I am aware of and sensitive to the unique needs of individuals whose jobs expose them to trauma on a frequent basis. Of course, you don't have to be in these categories to work with me. If you think we’ll be a good fit for a therapeutic relationship feel free to use the link to book an appointment and we can discuss your case further.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I use a variety of trauma-informed methods including TF-CBT, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and trauma-informed practices. Additionally, I am informed in Internal Family Systems therapy. I have been trained in ART since October 2024 and have used ART to reduce distress from many symptoms including anxiety, traumatic grief, PTSD, childhood trauma, relationship distress, assault, and grief.

Motivational Interviewing

I utilize motivational interviewing techniques overall in most all sessions. I use this method especially in situations where clients are unsure of making a needed change (for example, quitting smoking or drinking). It is a non-judgmental, empowering approach to helping clients become ready for change on their own terms.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use person centered techniques of being an authentic, warm, and non-judgmental therapist in all sessions. I believe that being warm, trustworthy, and a safe person is such an important aspect of trauma therapy. Clients bring to us their untold stories of trauma, abuse, victimization and I take this very seriously. My overall goal is to be a safe person that clients can trust.
