Amanda Van Erden
I care deeply about providing excellent mental health care to my clients. I have over 13 years of experience, working in private practice and healthcare settings. I specialize in stress management, anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, and healthy lifestyle behavioral modification. I am able to provide education to improve mood through nutrition. I have training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I take a person-centered, solution-focused approach to treatment.
First session
During the first session, I want to get to know more about my clients - who they are, what they are hoping to get out of therapy, and gain an understanding of their past as well as their goals for the future.
Strengths
My years of experience, working in different therapeutic settings, has helped me to gain the skills needed to tailor therapy to each client.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with adolescents, age 13 and up as well as adults, including geriatric clients. I work collaboratively with my clients to develop a treatment plan that helps them to achieve their goals for entering therapy. I pride myself on being an easy-going, very approachable provider and strive to see my clients be successful in making changes to have a more satisfying, fulfilling life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a modality that can be utilized for a variety of therapeutic concerns. I find I am able to adapt elements of CBT to help my clients achieve their goals.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I utilize elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy along with CBT since these modalities complement each other. ACT has some great coping strategies that I like to share with my clients.
