I’m a licensed therapist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds. I specialize in helping people navigate trauma, anxiety, and challenges with emotional regulation, especially when patterns feel overwhelming or hard to change. I’m trained in several evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, DBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). This allows me to tailor therapy to your specific needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. In our work together, I focus on creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative space where you can feel understood and not judged. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, whether you’re processing past experiences, learning new coping skills, or working toward deeper emotional healing. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more in control of your emotions, and more connected to yourself as you move forward.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and creating a space where you feel comfortable and safe. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, including any current challenges and what you’re hoping to work on or change. I may ask some questions about your background and past experiences to better understand your needs and what has shaped your journey. I’ll also share more about my approach and how I can support you, and you’ll have plenty of space to ask any questions along the way. This first session is really about building a connection and beginning to create a path forward that feels right for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What stands out about my approach is my ability to create a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and understanding. I draw from a range of evidence-based therapies, including EMDR, DBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), which allows me to tailor treatment to each person’s unique needs and goals. I am committed to ongoing learning and professional growth, and I bring a thoughtful, compassionate presence to the work. My focus is on helping clients feel supported as they work through trauma, emotional challenges, and patterns that feel stuck, so they can move toward meaningful healing and change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adults who are seeking individual therapy and are ready to better understand themselves and create meaningful change in their lives. I specialize in supporting people who are navigating trauma, anxiety, and difficulties with emotional regulation, especially when past experiences continue to impact their present relationships, thoughts, or sense of self. Many of the clients I work with feel stuck in patterns that are hard to break on their own and are looking for a safe, supportive space to process what they’ve been through. I am especially well-suited for individuals who want to build emotional resilience, develop healthier coping strategies, and move toward greater stability, self-awareness, and healing.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Five years ago, I completed an intensive 18-month DBT training program. Now, I integrate DBT into my individual therapy sessions. This involves helping clients identify and prioritize problematic behaviors, and teaching them essential skills from the four core DBT modules: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

In my practice, I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, which I've been trained in and have incorporated into my work for 3 years. IFS helps clients understand their inner world by recognizing and working with different 'parts'—sub-personalities that hold emotions, memories, and protective intentions. Through IFS, we explore these parts, heal the wounded ones, and ultimately foster a greater sense of self-compassion and internal harmony

EMDR

As a therapist with advanced training in EMDR, I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing to help clients process traumatic memories. My training includes specialized approaches for addressing grief, dissociation, and complex trauma. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, to help the brain reprocess these memories and reduce their emotional intensity, which can lead to significant relief from PTSD, anxiety, and other distressing symptoms.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

As a therapist specializing in trauma-informed care, I utilize Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy to help clients with PTSD. PE involves gradually and safely confronting feared situations or memories related to the trauma. This evidence-based approach helps to reduce anxiety and avoidance, allowing clients to regain a sense of control and live more fulfilling lives.

I've had a lot of therapists and Pilar is the best! I've uncovered and worked on my issues in only a couple sessions and I will be seeing her more. She has a talent of finding the core of your ailment, unraveling it, and, putting the pieces back together. I am also bipolar and she knew the care I needed to help me regulate. Thank you Pilar!
