It’s time to start taking care of you! Applaud yourself for taking the first step. I’m Liz, your therapist and Founder of Life Happens Counseling LLC in Atlanta, GA. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 13 years of experience in diverse mental health settings. I blend clinical expertise with lived experience to help individuals build confidence, motivation, and meaningful change. A little about me, I was born and spent much of my childhood in Atlanta, GA where I faced many challenges that led me down difficult paths early in life. Those experiences taught me what it feels like to struggle, feel unseen, and search for direction when life feels overwhelming. They also showed me that change is always possible with the right support. As a proud retired Army combat veteran, I bring a perspective shaped by discipline, resilience, and the realities of carrying more than people can see from the outside. Military service showed me what it means to push through fear, hold responsibility under pressure, and rebuild after hardship. It strengthened my belief that healing isn’t about perfection, but rather about learning to navigate your story with courage, honesty, and compassion. These experiences guide the way I show up for adolescents and adults who are facing their own challenges. Whether someone is dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, identity struggles, or major life transitions, I offer a therapeutic space that is grounded, supportive, and real. I integrate evidence‑based approaches with lived experience, helping clients feel understood while building practical skills to move forward. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow. Healing is a journey, and I’m here to walk alongside you as you build a life that feels meaningful, steady, and authentically yours! Welcome to the new you!
Your first session with me is all about getting to know you and helping you feel comfortable. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing lately, and what you hope to change or understand. There is no pressure to share everything at once. You set the pace, and I will meet you where you are.
My approach stands out because it’s grounded in both clinical expertise and real-life experience. I don’t just understand struggle from a professional lens, but I’ve lived through my own challenges, rebuilt after hardship, and learned what true resilience looks like. This allows me to connect with clients in a way that feels genuine, down to earth, and human.
I meet clients where they are at when they start therapy. I ask that you come to session with understanding that this is a collaborative, non-judgmental space where you can move at your own space, build confidence, and take meaningful steps towards the life that you desire. You can expect accountability and a listening ear to help you navigate your mental health journey.
