Welcome! My name is Jason Zimmerman and I am a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania. I have broad experience providing direct care to individuals and their families and have training in numerous evidence-based practices, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I use an integrative approach to harness the innate capacity of each individual to overcome adversity and build a life worth living.
Our first session will be focused on getting to know one another, clarifying what prompted you to seek therapy, and answering any questions you may have. I believe in taking our time with this process as we develop a collaborative approach to meeting your objectives.
As a compassionate listener, I aim to provide a safe space for you to explore personal challenges, express yourself with confidence, and cultivate the strengths you already possess. I am also skilled at looking at the broader context of individuals' lived experiences to support creative, effective, and value-based approaches to problem-solving.
I typically offer my services to individuals and families with a focus on young adults working toward a greater sense of autonomy. I enjoy helping people to discover their values and interests as they build a life worth living.
I have received formal training and supervision in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a treatment of choice for individuals who have experienced trauma, struggle with self-worth, and have difficulty managing stress, maintaining emotional balance, and sustaining meaningful relationships. I am an experienced skills group instructor and have conducted DBT groups in multiple treatment settings. As a clinician dedicated to continuous learning, I regularly engage in professional development and peer consultation to maintain clinical effectiveness.
I incorporate a mindfulness-based approach, drawing from the principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to empower my clients in their journey toward emotional well-being. I guide individuals in developing mindfulness skills to enhance self-awareness, regulate emotions, and cultivate meaningful change in their lives. With a commitment to the integration of mindfulness, I provide a compassionate and supportive space for clients to explore and transform their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
I place a strong emphasis on the value of integrative treatment. Recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach, I work with each individual to create a personalized approach that draws from various therapeutic modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This personalized approach allows me to address the unique needs and preferences of each client, promoting a more comprehensive and effective path toward healing and growth.
