Hello there, and thank you for reaching out—that’s a meaningful first step. I’m Carrie Freshour, LCSW-C, a licensed clinical social worker with more than two decades of experience supporting individuals through complex life challenges.
My [cash-based] private practice is intentionally small, serving only a handful of clients at a time, so I can offer highly personalized, trauma-informed care. To ensure I can meet your needs with my current availability, a brief phone consultation is required. If we’re not the right fit, I’m happy to provide thoughtful guidance and warm referrals.
I primarily support adults and young adults navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, identity transitions, and the lingering impact of trauma—especially systemic and institutional trauma that often goes unnamed but deeply shapes how we show up in work, family, and community.
My approach blends clinical expertise with real-world experience. I help clients:
Rebuild confidence and self-trust
interrupt patterns of self-sabotage
navigate conflict and communication challenges
heal from environments that felt unsafe, invalidating, or toxic
understand their nervous system responses and regain a sense of control
I’m direct, compassionate, and unafraid of hard conversations when they lead to clarity and growth. I believe people are far more resilient than they realize, and sometimes they simply need a safe space—and the right tools—to rise again.
If you’d like to explore working together, please message me with your phone number and three options for a 15-minute consultation call within the next one to two weeks.
Taking this step takes courage. I’m honored to walk beside you as you move toward the life you want.
Stronger together,
Carrie

Hello, great to meet you!
Are you ready to feel better?
I’m honest and straightforward, practical and fun; I will encourage and support you in discovery of your personal strengths and abilities. I believe that you can reach your potential and live a meaningful life.
It takes courage and strength to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
My therapy style is warm and interactive, enthusiastic, fun and humorous when appropriate. I am honest and straightforward, respectful, sensitive, and compassionate. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical, mindfulness, psychodynamic and trauma informed therapy. We will work together to develop a treatment plan that will focus on your unique needs and specific circumstances.
You may feel like you're struggling, that its too hard to change, or that relief simply isn't possible. Perhaps anxiety keeps you up at night, sadness follows you through your days, or your relationships leave you feeling misunderstood and emotionally drained.
I believe there is an integrative center within each of us that naturally guides us toward healing. The situations, losses, and difficulties that arise in life, as painful as they are, can become the very impetus we need to grow into a fuller, more joyful version of ourselves. Healing isn't about fixing what's broken. It's about reconnecting with who you already are beneath the weight of everything you've been carrying.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience helping people untangle the thoughts, wounds, and patterns that keep them stuck. My work spans anxiety disorders, depression, stress management, trauma, addiction, illness, and relationship issues. I have a particular passion for supporting individuals recovering from toxic or controlling relationships — people who have spent years doubting themselves or wondering if what they experienced was "bad enough" to deserve support. It was. You do.
My therapeutic style has been described as warm, respectful, and collaborative. I create a supportive environment where you feel genuinely seen, not just heard, and where an honest, trusting relationship can develop at your own pace. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities tailored to what you truly need. I enjoy working with clients from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and bring both clinical depth and genuine curiosity to every therapeutic relationship.
You deserve to feel lighter. You deserve to understand yourself more deeply, release what no longer serves you, and build relationships that feel safe, nurturing, and real.
My Personal Journey: I am a Muslim African American man, married since 1993, and the father of two adult daughters. Raised as the seventh of ten children in a working-class Catholic family, we moved from subsidized public housing and became the first Black family in our middle-class White neighborhood. This early cross-cultural experience taught me that struggle is a universal human condition, sparking my lifelong desire to become a therapist.
Following the passing of my father when I was 14, my path briefly pivoted. I spent my late teens and early college years studying Theology and Philosophy to become a Catholic Priest. Ultimately, my deep desire for marriage and family led me back to my original calling of clinical social work, allowing me to blend my spiritual depth with professional therapy.
Professional Background & Expertise: I have been a behavioral health professional since 1984 and a Maryland Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) since 1993. I have decades of independent practice, providing clinical therapy, consultation, and Deen/Life coaching to a global clientele across the US, Canada, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
My Therapeutic Approach: I offer a judgment-free, deeply respectful partnership to help you uncover your inherent strengths. I work with clients from all backgrounds to navigate depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship issues, and all forms of addiction (including behavioral compulsions). I customize our work, starting with an eclectic approach and educating each client about the range of treatment options we can collaboratively select to understand and address their conflicts, struggles, concerns, challenges, and the impact of life experiences that led them to seek professional assistance.
I am a compassionate, supportive, and genuine professional who believes everyone can grow, heal, and create meaningful change in their life. I bring strong communication, active listening, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills to my work, while creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients can feel heard, respected, and understood. My therapeutic approach is client-centered and collaborative, focusing on meeting each person where they are while helping them identify their strengths, understand challenges, develop healthy coping strategies, and work toward their goals. I believe therapy is not a one-sided relationship but rather a partnership, and I encourage clients to take an active role in their growth and personal development. My ideal client is someone ready for change, open to self-reflection, and willing to take steps toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
I have over 20 years of experience. My MA in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy.
I am a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT) and a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH). I provide online therapy thru live video conferencing to clinically appropriate residents of Maryland, North Carolina, Nevada, New Jersey, and District of Columbia.
I am Dr. Steven F. Murphy, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and heal from difficult experiences. In my practice, I primarily use Integrative Developmental Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support meaningful and lasting change.
Together, we will explore what has brought you to therapy and identify the most effective path forward.
My approach focuses on helping you recognize and reshape unhelpful thought patterns, behaviors, and long-standing life dynamics that may be limiting your growth. As you develop healthier perspectives and coping strategies, you will strengthen your emotional and social foundation.
This process empowers you to build resilience, gain clarity, and move beyond obstacles with greater confidence and purpose. My goal is to provide a supportive environment where you feel understood, equipped, and capable of creating the positive changes you deserve.

Hi there, I'm Laurie!
Do you wish providers would look at you through a whole person lens instead of discussing health and mental health separately? Are you an adult who likes a more personal, connected approach to therapy? Do you have a teen who has had difficulty connecting to other providers?
Well look no further!
I enjoy using storytelling, videos, and conversation to help clients of all ages improve self-esteem, self-worth and gain a better understanding of sense of self.

It is magical thinking to keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different outcome. Often this is what we do in our relationships with partners, children, family, friends, and ourselves. Therapy is like pushing a pause button on what isn’t working well–a pause to examine the thought patterns and behaviors that may be keeping us from a more satisfying life. Therapy is a unique way to explore a kinder way of viewing yourself and build on that to improve your relationships. This means I meet you where you are and we collaboratively map a path forward. Like any road trip, there will be wonderful vistas, stretches of boring road, a flat tire, and an amazing realization that this trip was what you needed. We are never the same after a visit. We know something new about ourselves, how strong we are, how vulnerable we’ve been, and the grace that we can offer to ourselves.
You are the expert of your life. I am curious about what you have done that has worked and will build on those strengths to make a difference. I believe that unconditional regard, non-judgment, and a client-centered, eclectic approach establish a helpful relationship in which positive change will occur.
For the last twenty years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families, who experienced trauma, divorce and its disruption to life; addiction issues, domestic violence, and its effects on relationships. My work also included counseling for anxiety, depression, and men who wanted to be more self-aware.
I grew up in California and the West and recently relocated to Maryland to be with the love of my life. I received my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Holy Names University in Oakland, California, and I'm a fully licensed clinical professional counselor in Maryland.

Hi, I'm Gabriella,
I have been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) since 2013, but I have been in the mental health field since 2006. We all know that in recent years, specifically starting in 2020, our life as we knew it drastically changed. Our relationships with our family, friends, coworkers and even ourselves appeared to stall indefinitely. We had to learn to maneuver in different ways to try and have a sense of "normalcy." But as we tried to navigate this new way of life, our mental health has suffered. We have noticed that depression, anxiety, and relationship/interpersonal issues have been rising because we have isolated ourselves for so long. As people, we are social beings and tend to gravitate towards social situations. Within the last year, rules and mandates have eased, and we are resuming to our "new normal," and maybe we are feeling hesitant and vulnerable to step out. Reaching out for help is very difficult but the most rewarding decisions you make. We can work together to make step by step goals so you can achieve your success.

The goal is to provide a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, so your experience will be for learning, progression and a genuinely safe space to share your story. I will create a personalized treatment plan with your participation to assist you with achieving your goals.
With 26 years of experience in the mental health field, my background spans a wide array of treatment settings and diverse populations. My journey began in wilderness programming for adolescents, witnessing how nature and challenge foster powerful change. I then transitioned to residential programs for at-risk youth—including those with severe behavioral challenges and adolescent sexual offenders—and provided substance use treatment for youth and adults in detention facilities. Since 2016, I have focused heavily on the intersection of mental health and addiction, treating them as deeply interconnected.
Today, I specialize in treating all types of addiction, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and certain personality disorders. My passion lies in helping adolescents (ages 14–18) and adults navigate their struggles with honesty, support, and practical solutions. Taking an eclectic approach, I incorporate Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness into my practice. I also integrate creative modalities like sand tray and art therapy, knowing healing doesn’t always happen through words alone. Over my career, I have run numerous therapy groups and worked with a broad range of individuals, including LGBTQ+ and deaf clients.
Academically, I earned my bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology from Frostburg State University (2000) and my Master of Social Work from Salisbury University (2011), obtaining my LGSW in 2011 and my LCSW-C in 2014.
At my core, I believe a fulfilling life requires balancing and nurturing the body, mind, and soul. My therapeutic approach is straightforward, genuine, and transparent: I don’t sugarcoat things, and what you see is what you get. I entered this field with a singular, clear purpose—to help people—and that remains my exact intention every day.
Hello, I'm Nazli Fouladi. I'm a clinical psychologist who is genuinely committed to helping you navigate life's challenges through mental well-being and emotional balance. I have a profound passion for delving into the complexities of the human mind and assisting others in their journey towards healing, personal growth, and living their best life. My approach is built on empathy, trust, and a strong belief in each person's capacity for positive change, all within a non-directive therapeutic space. I value a holistic approach to mental health including the mind, body and spirit. In addition to my doctoral studies in clinical psychology, I also have a postgraduate background in lifespan developmental psychology. That’s why I’m particularly aware of the difficulties that may come up during the intricate stages and events of life. For example, going off to college, marriage, parenthood, work-life balance caring for older loved ones, generational events/trauma etc.
My academic journey includes a Doctoral and Masters training in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology which I earned in the year 2009. Before that, I received a Master’s degree in lifespan Developmental Psychology from Johns Hopkins University. I also have a graduate background in the Fine Arts and Biology.

Rashad Mills is a compassionate, client-centered therapist who creates a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow. Hello, and welcome. I'm Dr. Natasha Charles-McQueen, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland. I work with adults, including first responders, healthcare professionals, men, and older adults, who are navigating medical trauma, traumatic loss, grief, chronic stress, major life transitions, and relationship challenges. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck, disconnected, or simply finding it difficult to move forward, therapy can provide a supportive space to better understand your experiences, develop practical coping strategies, and reconnect with your strengths.
I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP). My education in psychology, combined with my clinical experience, allows me to provide evidence-based care tailored to each client's unique needs.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based care that recognizes the connection among the mind, body, emotions, and behaviors. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel heard, respected, and supported while also being encouraged to grow in ways that align with your values and goals.
Outside of my practice, I enjoy designing guided journals, playing the drum, creating art, and writing poetry. I believe creativity encourages reflection, healing, and personal growth, and those values influence the way I approach therapy and my work with clients.
I am a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to helping people navigate life’s challenges and find meaningful growth along the way. I serve individuals and families facing difficult transitions, healing from past experiences, or seeking a deeper understanding of themselves. By utilizing a strengths-based CBT approach, I help you identify unhelpful patterns while building on your inherent resources to foster empowerment. My goal is to provide a compassionate space where you can develop the clarity and resilience needed to improve your self-esteem and achieve your personal goals.
I specialize in supporting adults navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, major life transitions, caregiver responsibilities, chronic illness, grief and loss, aging, and unexpected change.
I bring a combination of clinical expertise, compassion, and real-world experience to my work. My background in hospital settings has given me extensive experience helping individuals and families cope with medical diagnoses, crisis situations, caregiving demands, health-related uncertainty, and significant life changes.
My experience as a military spouse has also shaped my understanding of transition, identity, uncertainty, and starting over. Military life often requires adjusting to change, rebuilding routines, navigating career and family shifts, and finding stability during unfamiliar seasons. That perspective allows me to connect not only with military families, but with anyone facing a major transition, feeling disconnected from who they once were, or trying to create a new sense of direction.
I have seen firsthand how resilient people can be, even during incredibly difficult seasons. These experiences have strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure, provide compassionate support, and help clients find hope, build resilience, and develop practical strategies to move forward one step at a time.
Do you ever feel like you know exactly why you do the thing, and then go right ahead and do the thing anyway? I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) ) with a passion for deep, philosophical discussions about meaning and purpose. I take a solution focused approach to therapy, emphasizing both self-exploration and the development of practical coping skills. Therapy with me is not just about talking, it’s about actively building tools to help clients manage emotions, improve relationships, and create meaningful change in their lives. I enjoy teaching coping strategies that empower individuals to handle life’s stressors with greater confidence and resilience.
I have practiced across a range of clinical and community settings, serving individuals, children, and families. My professional background includes work as a court-appointed special advocate coordinator and as a foster care social worker, as well as facilitating Parenting Through Change – Reunification (PTC-R) with parents working toward family reunification. I have provided care within a forensic psychiatric hospital, trained in a comprehensive DBT program, and delivered services in substance use intensive outpatient programs, outpatient mental health clinics, and private practice.
Throughout these settings, I have supported clients navigating emotional dysregulation, trauma, and relational difficulties. My current practice focuses on adults, with particular attention to emotion regulation and strengthening the capacity to cope with life's challenges.
Are you feeling a little “off” lately? Down, anxious or unsure what comes next in life, especially after the last year or so? Or it could be you just don’t feel like yourself and you’re not sure why. You are not alone. To have problems means that you are human; but there is hope.
I provide a warm, accepting space for people to explore what matters to them and what’s getting in their way. I help clients learn to feel more comfortable with their emotions, to experiment with different ways of relating to their thoughts and feelings, to cultivate resilience, and to develop the self-trust and self-compassion that will support them along their paths.
Therapy provides you with a place to work on and work out your concerns, to be heard and reflect, and to take some space for yourself. Together, we will explore the underlying reasons for your troubles, what it might mean for you to “feel better” and begin to live a more productive, meaningful and engaged life.
I use an integrative approach consisting of cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness-based interventions.
My name is Juanita Fontenot, and I believe in a person-centered approach to everything, as we are humans first. I also think the resiliency of the human spirit is often unnoticed but should be celebrated. We all have value, and once you believe this, the impact is life-changing. I want to work with you! You who have doubted your value because of what others have said, you who want to make a change, but feel stuck because it's just too much, you who are willing to do the work to make the change you wish to see. And you, you who need someone in your corner.

I believe healing happens in relationship. Together, we'll chart a path toward what matters most to you, whether that's quieting the steady hum of anxiety or finding your way out from under the weight of chronic stress.
Many of us carry more than we let on: the aftermath of a life-threatening illness, wounds from early relationships, connections that left us wanting, or disappointments that knocked the wind out of us. Wherever your story begins, our work is about helping you feel steady on your feet and ready to make meaningful change.
I listen deeply to your lived experience and draw on a range of approaches to support you through life's complexities. You'll find in me a blend of candid insight, honest reflection, and genuine warmth, so even the hardest conversations feel productive, and never something you have to face alone.

Welcome! I'm an LCSW-C practicing virtually throughout Maryland, with almost 40 years of experience in mental health settings.
I work with adults across the lifespan, from young adulthood through middle age and into the later chapters of life. I’m particularly interested in the challenges, transitions, and opportunities that come with each stage—and in helping people navigate the changes that are simply part of being human.
Depending on where you are in life, that might include changing relationships and family roles, career transitions, caregiving, retirement or choosing to work beyond traditional retirement age, grief and loss, chronic illness or pain, living alone, or questions about identity, purpose, meaning, aging, mortality, and what comes next.
I also enjoy working with busy professionals managing demanding careers and frequent work travel, as well as parents trying to support young adult or adult children who are struggling with mental health concerns, ADHD, autism, independence, identity, relationships, or finding their way in adulthood.
Many of my clients aren't in crisis—they're simply at an important crossroads. I bring a warm, thoughtful, down-to-earth approach to helping people slow down, sort through what's happening, and decide how they want to move forward.
My services are virtual only. Appointments are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings.

Are you looking to improve your communication, strengthen your relationships, and manage conflict more effectively? Interpersonal skills are the foundation of healthy and thriving relationships—both personal and professional. If you are recovering from an emotionally abusive or narcissistic relationship and feel disconnected from yourself, therapy can also help you rebuild your identity, strengthen your relationship with yourself, and develop healthier relationship patterns.
I am a relationship counselor, currently providing individual and group therapy for adults aged 18 and older. I specialize in helping clients improve their relationship with themselves through personal growth and the development of healthier interpersonal skills, including communication, conflict resolution, anger management, boundary-setting, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills. Many individuals struggling in unhealthy, emotionally abusive, or narcissistic relationship dynamics often lose their sense of self, confidence, voice, and emotional balance within those relationships. A major focus of my work is helping clients reconnect with themselves, rebuild healthier patterns, and strengthen how they show up in relationships with others.
How you relate to yourself impacts every relationship in your life. When you learn to communicate effectively, set healthy boundaries, manage emotions, and navigate challenges in healthier ways, your relationships often become stronger, more balanced, and more fulfilling. This growth can improve confidence, reduce stress, and support overall emotional wellness.
I provide a supportive environment where clients can increase self-awareness, create meaningful change, and develop healthier connections with themselves and others. Schedule an appointment with me to begin your wellness journey.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience providing therapy across Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. In my practice, I provide a calm, collaborative space where adults can navigate anxiety, trauma, depression, and high-stress life transitions. I believe people are inherently capable of growth, but having a grounded, non-judgmental partner to help untangle the heavy stuff makes all the difference.
Usually, my clients seek therapy and counseling after struggling with challenges for days and sometimes months. Over time, these same challenges create maladaptive behavior patterns that must be corrected to facilitate change. However, my clients tend to dig in while inserting a host of new concerns.
Albert Einstien wrote: "We can't solve today's problems with the mentality that created them" With this in mind, it is better to seek professional services and resources: Recognizing you're not alone in this healing process.
I understand that therapy cannot solve all things of the past that challenge us, but clients can seek support, understanding, and better days.
My passion is to help the world heal through community and humanity. I'm ready to help you define and rewrite your new beginning. This will allow you to sculpt the person you want to be.
Taking the first step towards healing takes courage, and I'm glad you're here. My name is Amanda, and I hope to walk with you through your journey towards a healthier "You." I believe each person is intrinsically valuable. I believe that we have the ability within us to heal and move towards greater health. I believe that people are not broken into separate disparate parts but are a whole person, whose minds, bodies, and spirits work together, and in order to work towards health, each of these areas needs to be addressed. I see myself as a person who is privileged to walk beside my clients in their unique journey towards healing; providing encouragement, education, the occasional gentle pushback when necessary, and reminders of your innate strength and capacity. This holistic, empowerment-based approach is one that I live out in my own life, how I parent my children, and how I love and support my friends.

If you can read this, you made the first step. Congratulations. Seeking therapy is hard. Most people delay and tell themselves that whatever they are experiencing must be the way life is. Chances are if you have reached the point to begin exploring therapy, counseling can help make your life better. While therapy is often hard, it can be an enjoyable and uplifting experience as well. I believe that you cannot laugh without a combination of insight and relief. You can expect some humor in most sessions.
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 20 years. In that time I have worked with men, women, teens, and families on a wide variety of issues. Sometimes that work simply involved helping them through a particular incident or life change that overwhelmed them. Other times our work together centered around longstanding issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.
In addition to traditional cognitive behavioral therapy, I also offer a fourth-wave therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). I have found this technique to be highly effective in helping people with trauma and or anxiety. Our minds and bodies are connected. Anyone who has experienced a tight neck and shoulders or an upset stomach when they were stressed knows this. EFT uses acupressure (done by the client) and cognitive interventions to provide fast and effective relief.
With over 20 years of clinical experience, I am ready to help you through the challenges you are facing. In addition to counseling, I also provide vocational testing, coaching, and consulting.
I provide both Christian and secular counseling depending on the needs of my clients.
For clients with high level confidentiality concerns due to corporate or clearance issues, there are ways we can do EFT without you ever speaking out loud about events.

I’m Jessica Oyefusi, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, who is passionate about supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and create meaningful change. I love spending time outdoors, going on adventures, exploring creative hobbies, and discovering new places in the city. I also enjoy slowing down with a good mystery book or watching documentaries on health and wellness. These personal joys keep me grounded and inspire the warmth, curiosity, and authenticity I bring to my work with clients.
I have lived a life much like most of my clients. I have experienced hardships and achievements, sadness and joy, and disappointment in myself and in others. For most of my life, I have been lucky enough to somehow “figure it out” on my own. At one point in my life, I made a commitment to myself that no one should have to “figure it out” on their own. We all need to have someone who is committed to helping us out when we are at our most vulnerable.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 21 years of experience supporting individuals through life’s challenges, transitions, and unexpected changes. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, gain perspective, and explore what matters most to you. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, grief and loss, relationship challenges, caregiver stress, and major life transitions such as navigating college, parenthood, divorce, empty nests and later life. I have a particular interest in supporting women through the many stages of life, from entering adulthood and developing identity, to motherhood and changing family roles, transitioning through perimenopause/menopause, caring for aging or ill loved ones, experiencing relationship loss and preparing for or adjusting to retirement.
I also specialize in working with older adults and seniors as they navigate aging, changes in health and independence, loss and grief, caregiving, retirement, family transitions, and the emotional challenges that can accompany later life. I understand that these transitions can bring both opportunity and loss, and that it can be difficult to make space for yourself while caring for others or adjusting to change.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, navigating a difficult transition, or simply ready for something to feel different, therapy can provide a space to reconnect with yourself, identify your strengths, and move toward meaningful change. You don’t have to navigate life’s transitions alone. I’m here to help you find your way forward.
