New to Grow
My name is Ledia Urbano, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida. For over 25 years I have the privileged to provide effective therapeutic interventions to adults impacted by mental illness and/or substance use disorders. I use a combination of therapy approaches that include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavior Therapy; which focus on identifying and changing negative thought patterns to improve behaviors and emotional regulation, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; which provides a pathway for accepting difficult emotions rather than fighting them, while committing to actions aligned with personal values, Humanistic/Person-Center Therapy; which focus on our inherent capacity for growth, providing a supportive, non-judgmental environment for self-exploration, Solution-Focused Therapy, often called Solution-Focused Brief Therapy; a goal-oriented, strengths-based therapeutic approach which instead of dwelling on the history of a problem or digging into deep pathology, it focuses on building concrete solutions, identifying personal resources, and envisioning a desired future, and Integrative Therapy; a flexible, holistic approach that combines techniques from various schools to fit the unique needs of each individual.
During our first session you can expect to be welcomed and invited to share your concerns, symptoms, and/or of difficulties in a warm and respectful manner conducive to help me identify your individual needs and be able to thrive in your inherent capacity for growth and self-exploration in a supportive and non-judgmental environment conducive to making positive behavioral changes to reach your treatment goals.
My strength is based on many years of experience in the mental health and substance use treatment and my education on both of these fields. I graduated from Barry University with a Master’s in Social Work, from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, and from the University Miami with a degree as a Substance Use Counselor. I have worked at residential and intensive outpatient substance use treatment centers, and in Partial Hospitalization and Outpatient Programs treating chronic mentally ill individuals. I have also served as Clinical Director co-owner of Reflections Wellness Center in Miami Lakes, Reflections Wellness Center of Broward, and Reflections Wellness Center of the Florida Highlands where I provided guidance and supervision to more than 25 therapists combined.
I work with adults who are experiencing difficulties related to depression, anxiety, substance use, life changes, trauma, abuse, or other problems that are negatively impacting their daily lives. I use a combination of therapy approaches to help clients identify and change negative thought patterns, improve behaviors and emotional regulation, creating a pathway for accepting difficult emotions and providing a supportive, and non-judgmental environment for self-exploration, based on a goal-oriented, strengths-based therapeutic approach that focuses on building concrete solutions.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the therapeutic approaches I find very successful because it is a structured, goal-oriented talk therapy that teaches you to identify and challenge negative thought patterns so you can change unhelpful behaviors and manage emotional distress. The core premise of this therapy is that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interconnected and by altering how you perceive a situation, you can change how you feel and react to it. CBT is typically brief, often lasting between 12 to 20 sessions and focuses on solving current, present-day problems rather than deeply analyzing the past. CBT is scientifically backed and is widely used to treat or manage mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, phobias, and OCD as well as stress, grief, anger, substance use, and others.
