I am an LCMHC based in NC. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and have been practicing for 4 years as an outpatient therapist. I work with adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, stress, burnout, and familial and interpersonal relationships. I utilize several therapy modalities, including ACT, CBT, and DBT. I offer flexible appointment times during the work week in the morning, afternoon, or evenings.
In our first session, I will ask open-ended questions to identify your needs and goals. I also like to discuss your values and strengths, to understand what is important to you in your life. We will always collaborate together to form treatment goals and create a plan for sessions moving forward. I'm open to answering questions about myself and my experience to make sure that you also feel that we are a good fit for one another. We will complete an intake where I will ask you questions about your current symptoms, mental health history and any services you have received in the past, family history, physical health history, and will start discussing what goals you would like to set in our time together.
I strive to create a welcoming space for you to be your true authentic self, and to feel supported, truly understood, and safe. I have 4 years of experience working with diverse populations in both private practice and community mental health and this has given me the expertise to help people from varied backgrounds and situations. I make sure to check in periodically during treatment to see if there are concerns you have that are not being addressed, or if the structure of sessions needs to shift to make sure your needs are being met. I am flexible with scheduling appointments and making sure that you are getting the treatment you need to meet your goals!
I enjoy working with adults of all ages who have been struggling to deal with difficult life transitions, or have been experiencing depression and anxiety symptoms. My clients are motivated to engage in sessions, and are ready to learn ways to cope with the symptoms and emotions they are experiencing. My clients can expect in our sessions to receive unconditional positive regard, empathy, and support. I am here to validate your feelings and experiences and make sure you feel truly seen and understood while also highlighting areas in which you could learn and implement different coping skills to become in alignment with your goals and values.
In ACT, we will start by identifying what is important to you in your life. We will then work on learning specific coping skills to manage thinking patterns and behaviors that are not in alignment with the life that you want to be living. We will create a plan for you to engage with your loved ones and yourself in ways that bring joy into your life and help you be the person you truly want to be.
