Hi, I’m Hilda Dwumfuor, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. I work with BIPOC, queer, and immigrant clients, including eldest daughters who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward. My approach is warm, culturally informed, and trauma-aware. I focus on helping you understand what you’re going through, why it’s happening, and how to work through it in a way that feels empowering and sustainable. Together, we’ll explore patterns, process past experiences, and build practical coping tools that support your growth. I am especially passionate about supporting Black women, Black girls, and Black nonbinary individuals, creating a space where you feel seen, validated, and safe to show up as your full self. My goal is to help you build clarity, strengthen your sense of self, and develop the resilience needed to navigate life with more confidence and ease.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know you and understanding your goals for therapy. I’ll ask about your background, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve, while also answering any questions you have about the process. Together, we’ll begin building a safe supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, and we’ll start identifying strategies to help you feel more empowered and grounded in your life. I will also review some mental and behavioural health assessments.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths as a therapist are my warmth, cultural awareness, and ability to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. I am skilled at helping clients identify patterns, process past experiences, and develop practical coping strategies that lead to meaningful growth. I bring a collaborative approach to therapy, tailoring methods to each individual’s needs, whether that involves exploring emotions, building resilience, or strengthening relationships. I am particularly passionate about supporting Black women, Black girls, and Black nonbinary individuals, providing culturally responsive care that validates lived experiences and empowers clients to show up fully as themselves. Clients often describe feeling heard, understood, and supported in a way that allows them to make lasting changes in their lives. My focus is not just on insight, but on helping clients gain practical tools and confidence to navigate life with clarity, balance, and self-compassion.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to support individuals who are navigating life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and a desire for deeper self-understanding. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, burnt out, or disconnected from themselves, and are ready to begin making meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. I work with clients who are open to exploring their thoughts, behaviors, and past experiences in a supportive, nonjudgmental space. This includes individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and stress related to work, family dynamics, or major life changes. I also support clients who may struggle with people-pleasing, boundary-setting, or feeling unsure of their identity or direction. I am especially passionate about working with Black women, Black girls, Immigrants and Queer individuals. I strive to provide culturally responsive care that acknowledges and honors the impact of lived experiences, systemic stressors, and identity. My goal is to create a space where clients feel seen, safe, and empowered to show up fully as themselves. My approach is collaborative, warm, and insight-oriented. I help clients build emotional awareness, challenge unhelpful patterns, and develop practical tools they can apply in their daily lives. Together, we focus on fostering resilience, improving relationships, and increasing self-trust. My ideal client does not need to have everything figured out. They simply need a willingness to show up, be open, and invest in their growth and healing journey.
