Welcome! My name is Adam and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Los Angeles. I graduated from UCLA with my MSW and have been practicing for 5 years. While I have experience working with folks from all walks of life, I am dedicated to serving my beloved LGBTQ+ community and incorporating queer theory into my practice. I do my best to make you feel safe, seen, and supported while helping you address whatever it is that brought you to therapy in the first place. We are on this journey together.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Whether you want to start off slow or get right to it, I will meet you wherever you're at and without any judgement. Our first session will be an opportunity for me to get to know you and your goals for treatment so that I can start thinking of how to best support you moving forward. I am a firm believer that trust is the most important component of any therapeutic relationship and I hope that overtime, you feel safe enough to show up to sessions (and ultimately your life) as your most authentic self.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength is my adaptability. For the past 5 years, I have worked and trained in various clinical settings where I treated teens, young adults, and older adults with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, complex trauma, substance use, and psychosis. I rely on both my clinical expertise - and my personal life experiences as a gay, biracial, first-generation Muslim from the East Coast - to connect with you and better understand where you're coming from. Prior to becoming a social worker and therapist, I spent 8 years in the international human rights and philanthropy sectors, which afforded me the opportunity to learn from and connect with folks from all over the world.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with people who are big dreamers that want to live a fulfilling life, but who do not take themselves too seriously and can appreciate the little gems that life has to offer. Our circumstances, stressors, and emotions are REAL. They can leave us feeling stuck, small and paralyzed - but with everything going on in our world, who has time for all of that? If we keep coasting through life to "just get by," then we miss out on experiences that have the potential to alter our present and future. If you're ready to expand the quality of your life but not sure how to go about it, then I'd love to work with you.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I am trained and certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment that was developed to help us better manage conditions ranging from depression and anxiety, to procrastination and interpersonal problems. After we have established a safe and trusting space, we can get to work on identifying and targeting your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that get in the way of you living your best life. I tailor the exercises of CBT to specifically meet your current needs, to help you identify any blindspots, and to bring you closer to your desired goals.

Multicultural

It's not news that our world sadly favors some individuals over others - homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, ableism, ageism, etc. all play a huge role in shaping our past (and current) lived experiences depending on how you identify. Through open and respectful dialogue, I will honor and acknowledge every part of you that makes you, YOU - as we work together towards achieving your treatment goals.

Strength-Based

We all have strengths. And sometimes, the going just get's too tough! We get stuck and then we forget how to use our strengths when we're feeling overwhelmed and in over our head. I utilize techniques and exercises rooted in Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and other therapeutic modalities, that will help you reclaim the strengths you naturally have and developed over the years. Together, we may even uncover hidden strengths (or superpowers!) that you never even knew you had.
