New to Grow
Hello and welcome! Taking this step can be trying and rely on a certain amount of courage. This moment is an opportunity to give yourself credit for moving towards improving your wellbeing. Since 2005, I have had the privilege of supporting adults who seek to better manage transitions, self-care, depression, anxiety, interpersonal patterns, life stressors, or alcohol/ substance use. I have been credentialed in Oregon as an Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) since 2012. In 2006, I graduated from Marylhurst University in Oregon with a masters degree in Art Therapy Counseling, a dual degree program. From 2008-2018, I was certified as a CADC (substance use counselor) in Oregon through MHACBO (credentialing board). From 2008 to 2014, I supervised and trained interns, counselors, and therapists in a co-occurring treatment setting. I welcome feedback so I can best meet your needs and comfort level. If one of us feels like this is not a good fit, I will offer services while assisting you in finding someone to better meet your needs. My services are only available via video-based telehealth for persons residing in Oregon who are physically present in Oregon during telehealth services.
In our first session, it may seem like an extended introduction of yourself. We will discuss your preferences for therapy, what you are seeking to gain, address any potential risk, and ensure Telehealth is a good fit. If you choose to continue, we will identify what you want to gain and your ideal timeframe, which will inform our time together and ensure your needs are met.
My approach to therapy includes curiosity, humor, and gentle, insight-driven nudges. This is a safe space to be your authentic self, where you can expect support, encouragement, and compassion. We will explore your concern, connecting past experiences with present challenges. You will gain insight and reflect on what may be helpful for you now. Our time together includes an examination of maladaptive patterns, developing coping skills, and creating a plan to maintain what you have gained. If you are feeling maxed out with your current coping skills and are ready to take the next step, I'll be honored to join you on your journey to wellbeing.
If you are looking for someone to guide you on a path towards personal or interpersonal growth, support you through a difficult time, or build skills for a healthier you, I am here to help. Your willingness to engage in the process and be open to exploring what may be discovered is all that is needed to get started. We can move toward your goal(s) at the pace that matches your comfort level and aligns with your timeline.
With my guidance, you will connect past experiences to current, uncover unconscious motivations that influence your sense of self and interactions, and resolve what is no longer working for you. Change is hard for humans. I will support you identifying ways to let go of what no longer works and move forward with skills, confidence, and clarity.
Sometimes, taking a close look at patterns of behavior can help jump-start the change process. Stepping out of the emotional mind to examine our choices, behaviors, and emotions can allow us to determine the 'who, what, where, why, and how', gain a new understanding ourselves, and identify what we may need to focus on.
I will join you on your journey, exploring what motivates you and helping you keep the process moving by gently challenging beliefs or patterns that may be barriers to optimizing your health and goals.
