About me

Hi, I'm Abigail Asumadu-Mensah, a compassionate and client-centered mental health provider committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve emotional wellness. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, and trauma-related conditions through evidence-based approaches like medication management and supportive therapy. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to take steps toward lasting change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll take the time to get to know each other. I’ll ask about your current concerns, personal history, and any goals you have for treatment. You can share as much or as little as you're comfortable with—there's no pressure. Together, we’ll explore what’s been working, what hasn’t, and begin creating a care plan that fits your unique needs. Whether you're new to mental health care or returning, this session is a safe space to talk openly and begin your journey toward healing.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What sets me apart is my ability to build trust quickly by creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely heard. I take a collaborative and holistic approach—combining evidence-based treatments like medication management with supportive, strengths-focused conversation. I tailor care to each individual, helping clients feel empowered, not overwhelmed. I’m especially skilled at helping people make sense of complex emotions, manage symptoms effectively, and develop sustainable strategies for long-term growth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals who are ready to take the first step toward improving their mental health—even if they're unsure where to start. My ideal clients may be navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma, and are seeking a provider who listens without judgment and collaborates on care. Whether you're managing stress from work, struggling with motivation or focus, or looking for clarity and emotional stability, I’m here to support your growth. I especially enjoy working with adults who are open to exploring both medication and lifestyle changes to achieve their goals.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

In my practice, I use Motivational Interviewing to: Build rapport and trust, especially with patients who feel hesitant or defensive. Help clients explore the pros and cons of their behaviors without feeling judged. Elicit “change talk”—statements that show the patient’s own reasons and readiness for change. Support clients in setting realistic, personally meaningful goals. I often integrate MI techniques during medication management sessions, psychoeducation, and behavioral planning. I use open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summaries (OARS) to help patients gain insight into their challenges and feel empowered to take steps toward change.

She was warm and immediately solution oriented and helped to determine a path forward + solutions to help me. I feel comfortable with her and able to be open and honest immediately.
