Amanda Tenison
I provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management, along with education, practical strategies, and brief supportive therapy. I work best with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, burnout, and life transitions. My approach is a good fit for individuals who value thoughtful, structured, and collaborative care focused on practical, meaningful progress. My approach is supportive and straightforward; I take time to understand how your symptoms affect your everyday life, what has and hasn’t worked in the past, and what you would like to see change. We will talk through your options together so you understand the reasoning behind my recommendations.
I particularly enjoy working with women, students, and professionals who are balancing multiple responsibilities and want practical, sustainable ways to feel better.
A few things to know before scheduling: To help make sure my practice is a good fit for your needs, I do not prescribe benzodiazepines or provide formal autism evaluations. If you have previously been diagnosed or treated for ADHD and are interested in stimulant medication, prior evaluation or treatment records are helpful and may be requested. We will review your previous treatment, current symptoms, and individual needs together to determine which ADHD treatment options are appropriate for you.
First session
Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation focused on understanding your symptoms, history, previous treatments, and goals, in a relaxed, judgment-free setting We will discuss my initial impressions and next steps, which may include medication, supportive strategies, therapy recommendations, or additional assessment. Some concerns, including ADHD, may require more than one appointment to fully evaluate. My goal is for you to leave with a better understanding of your concerns and a clear plan moving forward.

Treatment methods
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation is an important part of my approach to psychiatric care. I provide clear, individualized education about symptoms, diagnoses, treatment options, and factors that may affect mental health. When medication is part of the treatment plan, I discuss its purpose, expected benefits, potential risks and side effects, and what to expect from treatment. My goal is to help patients better understand their mental health and feel informed and involved in decisions about their care.
Supportive
I incorporate supportive therapy into psychiatric medication management appointments when appropriate. These interventions may help patients process current stressors, strengthen coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and support their overall treatment goals. My primary focus is psychiatric evaluation and medication management, with supportive therapeutic interventions incorporated into appointments as part of a comprehensive approach to care.
