New to Grow
Therapy should feel like a collaborative space for growth and rooted in the belief that you are the expert in your lived experiences. I try to show up as a real person as well as a therapist; curious and direct: not ignoring how the world and culture, systems and socioeconomic factors play a role in our lives. I work to prioritize care that is person centered, evidence-based, and compassion focused. Training and experience in EMDR , CBT and DBT informed therapy, exposure and response prevention, attachment focused care, acceptance and commitment therapy. I don't lead with how you might fit or not fit into a diagnostic box. I hope you'll show up in a therapy space as your whole self. I understand that life can lead us in directions we didn't see coming, and how much strength it can take to change course and try to find ourselves again.
We would talk about your goals, background, and what you might want to feel different. First sessions are also a time where you would decide if I am a good fit for you.
I try to balance compassion and accountability. I am conversational and use humor when appropriate, and recognize that life gets messy.
Adults over 24 who are ready for things to feel different, to build stronger self-compassion, a deeper connection with themself and others. Many of the people I work with are curious & reflective: Interested in the "why" behind their habits rather than just quick-fix coping strategies . I'd hope to get to a place where you can view therapy as an active partnership.
Other specialties
I identify as
Attachment-based
This can help us improve relationships with self and others, improve self concept, and expand our ability to cope.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
This helps us identify patterns in our lives that we can change, help us to accept our emotions rather than fight them, and build/expand towards our goals according to what we value. THis approach works well for stress, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, life changes, grief.
Compassion Focused
We unintentionally form habits and ways of thinking to help us navigate our worlds. So often, when we are exhausted, running on zero. angry, feeling stuck, we try to stress ourselves out to help solve problems. It's not sustainable, so we feel depression, form negative sense of self.
EMDR
This can help us digest/process trauma, complex trauma, anxiety. What is special about this type of trauma therapy is that you don't have to say all parts of your trauma aloud, and it can help feel better more rapidly than other types of therapy. This isn't a best method for everyone but a strong option.
Grief Therapy
Continuing to live after loss of someone we love, a life we'd planned to live, and feelings of loss about things we care about can be helped with grief therapy.
