New to Grow
Hi, I’m Latoya, a Licensed Professional Counselor passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, support, and practical tools for change. I provide a warm, nonjudgmental, and trauma-informed space where clients can explore concerns related to anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationships, emotional regulation, and past experiences. While therapy is meaningful work, I also believe healing can include humor, authenticity, and showing up as your full self—I strive to do the same in session and encourage clients to show up unapologetically as themselves. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and focused on helping clients build insight, resilience, and healthier ways of coping so they can move toward healing and personal growth.
During the first session, clients can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we’ll discuss what brings them to therapy, current concerns, personal history, and goals for treatment. My approach is collaborative and paced to meet each client where they are, allowing time to build comfort, trust, and understanding. Together, we’ll begin identifying strengths, patterns, and practical tools to support healing, emotional wellness, and meaningful progress.
My greatest strengths as a therapist are my ability to create a warm, authentic, and nonjudgmental environment while also providing practical, evidence-based support that promotes meaningful change. Clients often appreciate my balance of compassion, directness, humor, and accountability, which helps them feel both emotionally safe and genuinely understood. I am skilled at helping clients increase self-awareness, identify unhealthy patterns, build healthier coping strategies, strengthen boundaries, and navigate difficult life experiences with greater confidence, insight, and resilience.
I am best positioned to support adults and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, stress, relationship concerns, emotional regulation, and self-esteem challenges. I work well with clients who may feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, struggle with boundaries, people-pleasing, unresolved family dynamics, or difficulty processing past experiences. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, trauma-informed, and goal-oriented, helping clients increase self-awareness, develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional wellness, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Other specialties
I identify as
EMDR
I utilize EMDR-informed interventions to help clients process distressing experiences, reduce the emotional impact of trauma, and develop healthier beliefs about themselves and their experiences. In my practice, EMDR techniques are used to support emotional healing, improve coping, and promote greater emotional regulation and resilience.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and improve emotional regulation. In my practice, CBT is used to support clients in creating meaningful behavioral change, increasing self-awareness, and managing symptoms related to anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions.
Polyvagal Therapy
I incorporate Polyvagal Theory into treatment by helping clients understand how their nervous system responses impact emotions, behaviors, relationships, and reactions to stress or trauma. I use this approach to support emotional regulation, increase self-awareness, and help clients develop grounding and coping strategies that promote a greater sense of safety and stability.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I utilize Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients identify strengths, build on existing successes, and develop practical, goal-oriented solutions. In my practice, I use SFBT to encourage empowerment, increase motivation, and help clients focus on achievable change rather than remaining centered on problems.
Psychoeducation
I utilize psychoeducation as part of an evidence-based, client-centered approach to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and life experiences. In my practice, I incorporate psychoeducation alongside modalities such as CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, and EMDR-informed interventions to increase insight, normalize symptoms, and build practical coping skills. I tailor information to each client’s individual needs and background to support empowerment, emotional regulation, and overall treatment progress.
