(she/her)
I am a board-certified family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, (FPMHNP-BC), based in Georgia, with license to practice in Florida. I received my post-master's degree from Valdosta State University. I have been in the mental health field for over 20-years, beginning as a substance abuse counselor. I specialize in substance abuse treatment and recovery. I provide individual, and group counseling utilizing a virtual or face to face platform.
In our first session, we will introduce ourselves and discuss what your expectations are for seeking therapy and or medication management. Then we will develop, and plan that is designed by you. "Remember you are the professional in your life, I am here to assist".
I believe that my experience both professional and personal has equipped me with the tools to be understanding, nonjudgemental, and empowering.
I love working with individuals who are experiencing life difficulties with managing their lives due depression, anxiety, PTSD, personality disorders, and or substance abuse issues.
Other specialties
I identify as
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a method I prefer to use because it focuses on my client's personal growth and change in their lives. Motivational Interviewing uses the principles of empathy and understanding, without judgement, which I believe is the hallmark of empowerment.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral therapy can help interrupt negative thoughts and replace them with realistic thoughts to help improve one's outlook on life. I employed this technique with session geared to help my clients see the world in a more realistic non-threatening manner. A technique that has proven to be successful among my clients is known as "Evaluating the evidence".
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT therapy is my go-to for my clients living with personality disorders and PTSD. I use this method to help the client tone down some of their intense emotional stress and employ better coping skills.
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma informed care incorporates some key principles, such as safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment, which are very important to living a healthy lifestyle regardless of the individual's diagnosis. My approach is one of transparency, trust, and collaboration to assist my patients to wellness.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Over the past five years, I've integrated Mindfulness-Based Therapy into my clinical work to help clients increase awareness, regulate emotions, and interrupt unhelpful thought patterns. In sessions, I introduce mindfulness as a practical skill, beginning with simple grounding techniques such as breath work or sensory awareness. As clients grow more comfortable, I guide them through exercises that help them observe thoughts and feelings without judgement, allowing space between the trigger and the response. I combine these practices with cognitive and behavioral strategies to support long-term change. My approach remains collaborative-I check in frequently, explore what resonates for each client, and adapt techniques to match their needs and comfort level. Many of my clients report improved coping, reduced anxiety, and greater clarity in daily life. Mindfulness becomes not just an intervention but a tool they can carry beyond the session, reinforcing resilience and self-regulation.
