Kimone Johns
I’m Kimone Johns, DNP, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, APRN, a dual-certified psychiatric mental health and family nurse practitioner. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood changes, sleep difficulties, and life stress. My primary care experience allows me to take an integrated, whole-person approach that considers how physical health, medications, lifestyle, and emotional well-being may affect one another. My practice is built on collaboration, respect, and creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and empowered to participate actively in their treatment.
First session
During our first session, we’ll take time to discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, medications, lifestyle, and treatment goals. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand your experiences while ensuring you feel heard, respected, and comfortable throughout the process. Together, we’ll develop a personalized plan that may include medication management, supportive strategies, lifestyle recommendations, referrals, or coordination with your other healthcare providers. You’ll also have time to ask questions and discuss any concerns about your care.
Strengths
I bring a compassionate, attentive, and collaborative approach to every session. My dual certification in psychiatric mental health and family practice allows me to consider the connection between emotional well-being, physical health, medications, sleep, lifestyle, and everyday stressors. I prioritize careful listening, clear education, and shared decision-making so clients understand their options and feel confident participating in their care. My goal is to provide a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment while developing practical, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each person’s needs and goals.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone seeking support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood changes, sleep difficulties, stress, or challenges with focus and daily functioning. They may feel overwhelmed, uncertain about where to begin, or frustrated by symptoms that interfere with work, school, relationships, or overall well-being. I enjoy working with clients who are open to honest conversation, collaborative care, and exploring how mental health, physical health, medications, and lifestyle factors connect. You do not need to have everything figured out—only a willingness to take the next step toward feeling and functioning better.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT-informed strategies to help clients recognize connections among their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical responses. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, explore how they affect daily functioning, and develop practical ways to respond more effectively. Depending on the client’s needs, this may include reframing negative thoughts, improving problem-solving skills, developing healthier routines, managing stress, and practicing coping techniques between sessions. I integrate these strategies with medication management and whole-person care to support meaningful, sustainable progress.
