My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT techniques by guiding individuals through structured sessions aimed at identifying and challenging maladaptive thoughts and behaviors. This involves helping them recognize cognitive distortions, such as black-and-white thinking or catastrophizing, and replacing them with more balanced and realistic thoughts. Additionally, I assist individuals in developing coping skills, such as relaxation techniques or problem-solving strategies, to manage stressors effectively. Through collaborative goal-setting and homework assignments, I support clients in implementing these techniques outside of sessions to foster long-term change and resilience.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is another evidence-based approach I utilize in practice. DBT focuses on teaching individuals skills to manage intense emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and tolerate distress effectively. I help them cultivate mindfulness skills to stay present and nonjudgmental, learn techniques to cope with distressing situations without making them worse, regulate their emotions through identification and acceptance, and enhance communication and assertiveness in relationships. By integrating these skills into their daily lives, individuals can experience improved emotional well-being and greater resilience.

Couples Counseling

I use the Gottman Method by conducting thorough assessments of couples' relationships, including observing interactions and identifying areas of strength and concern. I then tailor interventions based on the specific needs and dynamics of each couple. This may involve teaching communication skills, such as the "Softened Start-up" to initiate conversations gently or the "Aftermath of a Fight" to repair conflicts effectively. I also help couples develop rituals of connection, such as weekly date nights or daily check-ins, to foster intimacy and build trust over time. Through structured exercises and homework assignments, I support couples in implementing these techniques outside of sessions to promote lasting change and satisfaction in their relationship.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I utilize Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) by conducting sessions that focus on enhancing the parent-child relationship through a combination of play-based interventions, reflective dialogue, and skill-building exercises. I work closely with both the child and the caregiver to address any relational challenges or trauma-related issues that may be impacting their bond. For example, I might use techniques such as "floor time" play sessions, where I observe and coach caregivers in responding sensitively to their child's cues and promoting positive interactions. Additionally, I help caregivers develop strategies for managing their own stress and emotions in order to provide a more secure and nurturing environment for their child. Through consistent support and guidance, I aim to strengthen the attachment bond between the child and caregiver, leading to improved emotional regulation, communication, and overall well-being for both parties.

Grief Therapy

I employ various evidence-based techniques to address the complex emotional and psychological aspects of mourning. This includes facilitating a process of exploration and acceptance of the reality of loss, acknowledging and expressing emotions associated with grief, and assisting clients in adjusting to a changed world without their loved one. I utilize interventions such as guided imagery, journaling, and narrative reconstruction to help clients process their experiences and find meaning in their loss.
