LPC1 year of experience

Hi, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up as yourself, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. Life can be complicated, overwhelming, and sometimes downright frustrating. You don't have to navigate those challenges alone. I work with individuals experiencing addiction, anger, anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions. Whether you're struggling with difficult emotions, feeling stuck in unhealthy patterns, or adjusting to unexpected changes, my goal is to help you better understand yourself and discover healthier ways to move forward.

Life doesn't always go according to plan, and you don't have to navigate its challenges alone. You deserve a space to feel heard, rediscover your strengths, and build the confidence to make meaningful, lasting changes in your life.

My therapeutic style is warm, straightforward, and collaborative, with a little humor when appropriate. I believe meaningful growth comes from honest conversations, self-reflection, and sometimes being willing to see things from a different perspective. I'll listen, support you, and validate your experiences, but I'll also challenge you when needed. Sometimes growth requires stepping outside your comfort zone, and I'll be there to support you through that process. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and supportive therapy into my work. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we'll identify your goals, recognize your strengths, explore patterns that may be holding you back, and develop practical strategies you can use in everyday life. Therapy isn't about being perfect or having all the answers. It's about understanding yourself, making intentional choices, and learning how to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being honest, asking questions, laughing when appropriate, and celebrating your progress. You don't have to know exactly where you're going to take the first step. We'll figure out the direction together.

First session

Your first session will look a little different from a typical therapy session. This is our opportunity to get to know each other, discuss what's bringing you to therapy, explore what you'd like to change, and begin developing a plan that works for you. Just as importantly, this is your opportunity to get to know me. I encourage you to ask questions about my approach, what you can expect from therapy, or anything else that might help you decide whether I'm the right therapist for you. I like to think of our first session as a "vibe check." Therapy is a collaborative relationship, and finding someone you feel comfortable talking to is important. There's no pressure to have everything figured out or share your entire life story in one session. My goal is for you to leave with a better understanding of what our work together could look like and whether you feel comfortable taking that next step with me.

Strengths

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to connect with people from different backgrounds and create an environment where they feel comfortable being themselves. I bring empathy, authenticity, and a straightforward communication style to my work, often incorporating humor when appropriate. I'm a good listener, but I also believe in having honest conversations and gently challenging clients to explore perspectives or patterns that may be holding them back. I recognize that everyone comes to therapy with different experiences, strengths, and needs, so I tailor my approach to each individual rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. I also focus on helping clients recognize their progress, build confidence, and develop practical skills they can use outside of our sessions. My goal is to balance compassion with accountability, helping clients feel supported while encouraging meaningful personal growth.

Ideal clients

I don't believe there is one specific type of ideal client. Everyone comes to therapy with different experiences, challenges, and goals. I believe that simply taking the time to look for a therapist is already a step toward change. You may not know exactly what you want or need, and that's okay. What matters most is your willingness to explore possibilities, engage in honest conversations, and take an active role in your growth. Therapy is a collaborative process, and while I'll provide guidance, support, and encouragement, lasting change requires effort both inside and outside of our sessions. You don't have to have everything figured out or be completely ready to make changes on day one. We can start wherever you are, identify what matters most to you, and work together to build the confidence and skills needed to move forward.

Treatment methods

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

I incorporate Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) into individual therapy to help you recognize your strengths, identify existing resources, and discover practical solutions to life's challenges. Together, we focus on goal development, identifying what you would like to change and creating realistic, achievable steps to help you move toward those goals. An important part of our work involves finding exceptions, or exploring times when the problem was less intense, more manageable, or absent altogether. By examining what was different during those moments, we can identify strengths, strategies, and resources you may already possess but have not fully recognized. Rather than focusing solely on what is going wrong, I help you build on what is already working. My approach is collaborative, empowering, and focused on helping you recognize your progress, build confidence, and create meaningful, lasting changes in your everyday life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques into individual therapy to help you better understand your emotions, manage difficult feelings, and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. An important part of our work together involves mood monitoring, which helps you recognize emotional patterns, identify triggers, and understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. Through mood tracking, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation strategies, I help you become more aware of changes in your mood and recognize early signs of emotional distress. Together, we work on developing practical coping skills that allow you to respond to challenging situations rather than react impulsively. My goal is to help you feel more in control of your emotions, improve your relationships, and build the confidence and skills needed to navigate everyday life with greater balance and resilience.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you better understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we explore the cognitive triangle to recognize how the way you think about situations can influence how you feel and respond. I also help you identify cognitive distortions, or unhelpful thinking patterns, such as expecting the worst, thinking in all-or-nothing terms, or being overly critical of yourself. By learning to recognize and challenge these patterns, you can begin to develop more balanced perspectives, manage difficult emotions, and make healthier choices. My approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on helping you build skills that you can use in everyday life to create meaningful, lasting change.

Motivational Interviewing

I incorporate Motivational Interviewing (MI) into individual therapy to help you explore your thoughts and feelings about change, identify what matters most to you, and strengthen your motivation to move forward. Together, we work on understanding ambivalence, or the mixed feelings that can arise when part of you wants things to change while another part feels uncertain, hesitant, or comfortable with what is familiar. Through open-ended questions, reflective listening, and collaborative conversations, I help you explore your personal values, recognize barriers to change, and identify your own reasons for making meaningful improvements in your life. Rather than telling you what you should do, I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your options and make decisions that align with your goals and values. My approach focuses on empowering you to build confidence, strengthen your commitment to change, and take realistic steps toward creating the life you want.

Supportive

I incorporate Supportive Therapy into individual therapy to provide you with a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can openly express your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. Together, we explore life's challenges, process difficult emotions, identify your strengths, and develop practical strategies to manage stress and navigate everyday situations. An important part of my approach involves psychoeducation, which helps you better understand your emotions, mental health symptoms, behavioral patterns, and how life experiences may influence your overall well-being. By providing information, guidance, and emotional support, I help you gain insight into what you are experiencing and develop the tools needed to make informed decisions about your mental health. My approach emphasizes validation, encouragement, and collaboration, with the goal of helping you build confidence, strengthen your coping skills, and develop greater emotional resilience as you navigate life's challenges.
