New to Grow
My expertise lies in noticing and helping you notice. I help you access, what you already know, at least to some degree. I help you build transformative practices out of everyday actions. I will see you in your pain and not deny it. I will help you notice and build transformative practices and relationships that will nurture and sustain you. I have extensively published on the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Competent Care. I recognize that, while cognitive and behavioral work matters, so does the body and so do larger contexts of justice and injustice. Mindfulness and meditation are therefore integrated into care using the following modalities: CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) Trauma Informed Care Mindfulness Practices
You will be heard. I will listen. We will figure out together what you want and need to do and get to know each other. You get to ask all your questions. We work collaboratively to figure out what comes next.
It's important to me to be fully present with your story and your pain. Before we jump into what comes next, I want to make sure that you feel fully seen and heard. We don't jump to conclusions. I understand that relationships take time and that trust is earned.
I work with clients who have are struggling with managing the effects of trauma, often intergenerationally, as well as depression and anxiety. My clients and are curious and often cautious about opening up because of their life stories and experiences. My clients want to be learn to be fully present in their lives. Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
We will figure out what is important to you and how you can bring more of what is important to you into your everyday life. We work on being present with what is painful and live a life worth living in spite of the pain you may carry.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
We figure out what you think about yourself, the world and others. Then we examine these thoughts to weed out thoughts that don't serve you well, because they are trauma-based or based on harsh judgements by those around you. We work on changing what you think in order to change how you feel and what you do in your life to make sure that you create the life you want.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
We begin by figuring out both what is happening and has happened in your life and honor how hard you have worked so far. We examine how you want to and can create change, step by step in spite of your current pain and suffering. We pause and work on being present with all that you think and feel. We try new things.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
When life is overwhelming it can become difficult to be present with all that is happening. And yet this is possible. We will begin by exploring how you can cope with difficult feelings and events. We will work on being present with what is happening in your life even if this is difficult. We work on building a meaningful and full life and honoring all of your story.
