Hello, I have been a therapist for about 14 years and have enjoyed working in a variety of settings, including a residential treatment settings for substance use disorders, an outpatient program for substance use and mental health co-occurring disorders, and also in private practice to address general concerns that may arise. I have also worked as a community provider, focusing on concerns related to parenting, family conflicts, separations, and domestic violence.
In the first session, I like to hear from you and get to know you to start understanding what brought you to see me. I am also open to sharing more about me if and when that is something that interests you.
I feel that my strengths include listening, being willing to give and take feedback and also to help identify solutions and future goals.
I have worked with many clients to better understand the process between our thoughts, emotions, and actions. It is important to not only identify your emotions but also to understand how they might impact you in your daily life and interactions with others. Learning to identify our thought processes is equally important, as we can get stuck in negative thoughts that can prevent growth, whereas addressing these can create space for change, growth, and resilience.
I appreciate Motivational Interviewing, as this helps you to identify where you may be motivated or still considering change. This technique allows us to recognize any areas where you may feel stuck or not yet ready for change and what could help make that happen when the time is right.
