Danielle Chandler
I believe therapy is a space where we can embrace our humanity, learn from our mistakes, and even find moments of humor along the way. My background in education, nonprofit work, and emergency management has shaped my ability to meet people with compassion, curiosity, and flexibility. In my practice, I strive to create a warm, genuine space where clients can feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow.
First session
Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, collaborative relationship. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain from the process, and what feels important for me to understand about you. You can expect a warm, judgment-free space where you don’t have to have everything figured out—we’ll start wherever you are.
Strengths
My therapeutic approach is person-centered, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I can offer a listening ear and a safe space to process, while also challenging, gently pushing back, or asking difficult questions when that feels helpful and aligned with your goals. Together, we’ll find the balance between support and growth that works best for you
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help you identify unhelpful thoughts that contribute to distress or unhealthy behaviors. Together, we can examine thinking patterns, challenge inaccurate or unhelpful beliefs, and develop more balanced ways of thinking and coping strategies to improve your emotional well-being.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use ACT to help clients learn to accept difficult thoughts and emotions rather than struggling against them. Together, we clarify your personal values and build practical skills that support meaningful, value-driven actions, even in the presence of life's challenges.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy to help clients gradually face feared thoughts, situations, or sensations while resisting the urge to engage in compulsive or avoidance behaviors. Through a supportive, collaborative process, you will see that anxiety naturally decreases over time and build confidence in your ability to tolerate uncertainty and live more freely.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I use a person-centered approach to create a collaborative space where clients feel heard, understood, and accepted. By building a trusting therapeutic relationship and honoring each client's unique experiences and strengths, I can help you gain greater self-awareness, confidence, and the ability to create meaningful change in your life.
Psychoeducation
I use psychoeducation to help clients better understand how their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and nervous system interact and influence their well-being. By providing evidence-based information about mental health and coping strategies, I can help you to make informed choices, build effective skills, and actively participate in your healing process.
