New to Grow
My name is Gwendolyn and I am Licensed Professional Counselor with over 6 years of experience working in the mental health field. I believe that understanding how your mind works is a powerful step toward change. Together, we’ll explore patterns, build coping skills, and create space for healing so you can begin to feel more grounded, confident, and in control. As your therapist, my goal is to empower you to create a life that aligns with who you are and what truly matters to you. I’m here to support you in developing skills that allow you to navigate life's challenges. I work with adolescents and adults facing a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, OCD, substance misuse, anger, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative and tailored to your needs, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, and incorporating play and expressive arts therapy when appropriate.
The first session is the information stage. This allows me to get to know you, your story, mental health history, current concerns, what brings you to therapy, and what you're hoping to gain from attending therapy. This session is not about having all the answers, it's a chance for us to get to know each other and share at your own pace. We will review expectations for therapy and discuss how we can work together in a way that feels aligned with your needs. My goal is to create a supportive, safe, and nonjudgemental space where you feel comfortable getting started.
I create a safe, supportive space where you can show up as your authentic self. We will go at your pace and tailor sessions to your individual needs. I see clients on the weekends so that you can access mental health services when you have the time to. I strongly believe in client empowerment. You are the expert on your life, and my role is to support and advocate for you as we work toward your goals. Using a blend of CBT and DBT, I help you develop practical tools to better manage emotions, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and build skills that support lasting change. I also incorporate therapeutic art-making interventions when appropriate or when it aligns with your preferences, offering additional ways to process and express your experiences.
