New to Grow
I specialize in working with adolescents as they navigate the many challenges and transitions that come with growing up. With five years of experience as a middle and high school counselor, I have supported teens with concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-esteem, school stress, perfectionism, family conflict, life transitions, and more. I bring a calm, genuine, and relatable presence to my work. I enjoy helping teens recognize their strengths and better understand themselves. I hope for clients to leave my sessions with a sense of empowerment and confidence in their abilities to problem-solve and handle situations that come their way.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you aren't sure what to expect! That is why I keep our first session simple. It is focused on getting to know each other and helping you feel comfortable with the process. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, your background, your goals, and what you hope will be different. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We will work through the process together, one step at a time!
My approach is collaborative, goal-focused, and strengths-based. I believe therapy should be more than just talking about problems. It should be a place where we work together to understand what is getting in the way and create realistic steps toward change. I draw from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Reality Therapy to help clients identify their goals, recognize patterns, and develop strategies that fit their lives. I take time to build trust and create a strong relationship with clients so that I can offer encouragement, new perspectives, and gentle challenges when needed.
My ideal client is an adolescent who is looking for support while figuring out who they are and where they want to be. I especially enjoy helping teens build confidence, find motivation that feels meaningful to them, and learn how to advocate for themselves in a comfortable and authentic way. No matter what struggles they face (anxiety, self-esteem, school stress, relationships, etc.), I work best with clients who are open to getting creative with solutions and taking steps toward positive change.
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients identify their strengths, recognize what is already working, and focus on the changes they want to make. I often use tools such as scaling questions to help teens reflect on where they are, where they would like to be, and what small steps they can take to move closer to their goals. This approach helps clients recognize progress and build confidence in their ability to create change.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck and practice strategies such as reframing unhelpful thoughts, developing coping skills, and making intentional changes that support their goals.
I use Reality Therapy to help clients explore their needs, choices, and areas of life where they have control. Many adolescents face situations they cannot change, but they can learn to focus on their responses, decisions, and actions. This approach helps clients find motivation that feels meaningful to them and take steps toward the person they want to become.
