Hi, my name is Rony Michel, and I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who provides compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, mood concerns, stress, life transitions, and other mental health challenges. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. I take a collaborative approach to care, working with each client to better understand their symptoms, strengths, goals, and treatment options. Whether you are seeking support for the first time or continuing your mental health journey, I strive to provide thoughtful, individualized care that helps you move toward stability, healing, and improved quality of life.

First session

During our first session, my goal is to get to know you, understand what brought you in, and learn more about your mental health history, current symptoms, stressors, strengths, and goals for care. I will ask questions about what you have been experiencing, what has helped or not helped in the past, and what you are hoping to improve. The first session is also a chance for you to ask questions and share what feels important at your own pace. Together, we will begin creating a treatment plan that feels realistic, collaborative, and focused on your needs. My approach is supportive, nonjudgmental, and centered on helping you feel heard and understood.

Strengths

I bring a calm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental presence to each session. I strive to help clients feel safe, respected, and truly heard while we work together to better understand their concerns and goals. My approach stands out because I combine clinical knowledge with genuine empathy and collaboration. I take time to listen, explain treatment options clearly, and create a plan that feels realistic and individualized. I believe effective care starts with trust, and I work to build a strong therapeutic relationship where clients feel supported, empowered, and involved in their treatment.

Ideal clients

I am best positioned to serve adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, mood changes, stress, and life transitions. I also work well with clients who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, unmotivated, emotionally drained, or unsure where to start. My ideal clients are looking for a supportive, nonjudgmental space where they can better understand their symptoms, build coping skills, improve daily functioning, and feel more in control of their mental health. I am especially helpful for clients who are open to both medication management and practical therapeutic support to help them make realistic, sustainable progress.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients identify how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. In my practice, I use CBT to support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, stress, and life transitions. I help clients recognize unhelpful thought patterns, challenge negative beliefs, build healthier coping skills, and make realistic behavior changes. I also use CBT alongside medication management when appropriate, so clients can better understand their symptoms, improve daily functioning, and feel more in control of their mental health.

Supportive

I use supportive therapy to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can process stressors, emotions, and life challenges. In my practice, I focus on active listening, validation, encouragement, and helping clients strengthen their coping skills. Supportive therapy is especially helpful during medication management visits because it allows clients to feel heard while also working toward stability, symptom improvement, and better overall functioning.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore ambivalence and build motivation for change. This approach is especially helpful when working with clients who are struggling with substance use, medication adherence, lifestyle changes, or feeling stuck in unhealthy patterns. I use open-ended questions, reflective listening, and collaborative goal-setting to help clients identify their own reasons for change and take realistic steps forward.

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients identify strengths, set practical goals, and focus on manageable next steps. In my practice, I use this approach with clients dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, work challenges, and life transitions. I help clients recognize what is already working, build on past successes, and develop realistic strategies to improve their current situation.

Trauma-Informed Care

I use a trauma-informed approach by recognizing how past trauma can affect a client’s mood, anxiety, relationships, trust, and overall functioning. In my practice, I focus on creating a safe, respectful, and collaborative environment. I avoid judgment, support client choice, and work at a pace that feels appropriate for the client. This approach helps clients feel supported while addressing symptoms related to trauma, anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation.
