New to Grow
Hi, I'm Johanny Peña, a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and compassionate while also being direct when needed. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel genuinely seen, understood, and supported without judgment. Together, we'll explore both the practical challenges you're facing today and the deeper patterns that may be contributing to them. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), ACT, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and trauma-informed care. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready for change, my goal is to help you build greater self-understanding, resilience, and confidence in your life.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and it's completely normal to feel nervous. During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brings you to therapy at this point in your life. I'll ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, strengths, and goals so I can better understand your unique experience. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. By the end of the session, we'll begin identifying goals for our work together and discuss what therapy may look like moving forward.
Therapy with me is both supportive and active. I won't simply sit quietly and nod—I will help you identify patterns, make connections, and gently challenge beliefs or behaviors that may be keeping you stuck. At the same time, I believe healing happens in relationships, so creating a safe, authentic, and nonjudgmental space is essential. My clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or unsure of their next steps. Together, we slow things down, make sense of what's happening beneath the surface, and build practical tools for navigating life's challenges with greater clarity and confidence.
I work best with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, relationship challenges, grief, and major life transitions. Many of my clients are high-achieving professionals, caregivers, first-generation individuals, creatives, and people who often feel responsible for everyone else while struggling to care for themselves. Together, we work to better understand patterns that may be keeping them stuck, build practical coping skills, strengthen relationships, and create a life that feels more aligned with their values and goals. I provide therapy in both English and Spanish and strive to create a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive environment.
