Hello! My name is Julia Garcia-Ixcol, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) and Christian therapist with more than 13 years of experience. I have experience working with various age groups from 0 to 60 years old. My passion is helping people heal from past trauma or unresolved issues, navigate life's challenges, and heal from the past and move toward a healthier future. As a Christian therapist, I provide support to help clients explore crises of faith due to past trauma or other spiritual issues by integrating faith-based principles upon the client's request, which can foster personal and spiritual growth.
During our first session, I strive to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment. We will spend our first session getting to know each other. We will discuss your current challenges, symptoms, and treatment goals.
What makes me unique as a therapist is my integration of faith-based principles with evidence-based therapeutic approaches like TF-CBT and CBT. I have an extensive background in working with children/adolescents, families, and adults. I tailored my approach to meet my client's needs and goals to promote healing.
I love working with children/adolescents, and adults who are struggling with different issues in particularly with anxiety, depression, trauma, and parenting issues, and are motivated to begin the process of healing.
I have experience using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge negative thoughts, develop more balanced positive thoughts, and change behavior patterns. I have used CBT to treat anxiety, depression, and trauma with both children and adults.
I provide Christian counseling, I integrate faith-based principles with therapeutic practices to support clients' emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. This approach often involves incorporating prayer and scripture, when desired and a focus on the client's relationship with God to facilitate healing and personal growth.
I have experience using TF-CBT in treating clients who suffer from the effects of trauma with CBT. This approach involves providing and identifying the trauma, teaching coping skills to manage difficult emotions, and processing the trauma and challenging negative thought patterns that impact a client's daily function in order to have new start.
