(she/her)
I was born and raised in New York, where I completed my Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University in 2017. I have 8 years of clinical social work experience and am the Founder and CEO of KALM Therapies, a whole-person behavioral healthcare company offering a range of clinical service lines. KALM Therapies provides whole-person trauma-informed psychotherapy, bereavement counseling, hospice and palliative care support, and cognitive behavioral therapy to individuals. I currently reside in Charleston, South Carolina, with my husband, son, and two golden doodle certified therapy dogs.
This session is largely a conversation there’s no pressure to “have it all figured out.” You’re welcome to share at your own pace. I’ll ask questions to help us explore your current concerns, any significant life experiences, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. We might touch on things like your mood, relationships, work, past experiences, and how you typically cope with stress or emotional challenges. You can also ask me questions about the therapy process, my approach, or anything you’re unsure about. This first meeting is also a chance for you to get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. My approach is grounded in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where we can begin to explore not just what’s happening on the surface, but also the deeper patterns that might be shaping your emotional life. Whether you're feeling stuck, anxious, grieving, or just ready for change, we’ll start by listening to what your experience is telling us and go from there. By the end of our first session, we’ll discuss next steps and decide together how we’d like to move forward.
My therapeutic style is a thoughtful balance of deep listening, compassionate presence, and respectful challenge. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I’m both warm and willing to be direct, what I call empathetically confrontational. That means I’m not here to judge or push, but I also won’t shy away from gently naming patterns or truths that might be hard to see on your own. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel supported and stretched. Real growth often comes with discomfort, moments when you start to notice things about yourself, your relationships, or your choices that you hadn’t seen clearly before. Together, we’ll sit with those moments, explore their meaning, and begin to make sense of them in a way that leads to real change. While my work is grounded in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic thinking helping you understand the deeper roots of your struggles, I also bring a solution-focused mindset. I’m interested in helping you move forward, not just reflect. We’ll stay attuned to your goals and regularly check in on your progress, even when the path feels uncertain. If you're looking for a therapist who will listen deeply, reflect honestly, and walk with you toward meaningful change, I offer a process that is both insight-oriented and forward-moving. You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin, just a willingness to look inward and a readiness to grow.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 8 years of experience, I work best with adults, young, middle-aged, and older who are navigating periods of transition, loss, or emotional difficulty. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. Whether you're adjusting to a new life stage, grieving a loss, struggling with anxiety or depression, or simply sensing that something needs to change, you don’t have to face it alone. My practice is particularly well-suited for individuals who are seeking deeper insight into their emotional lives and who want to shift longstanding patterns in how they relate to themselves and the world around them. You may be someone who: Feels a loss of meaning or direction Looking to change the way they view what they are and are not in control of Is carrying unprocessed grief or emotional pain Struggles with anxiety, self-doubt, or a harsh inner critic Is reevaluating relationships, career paths, or identity Wants to understand the “why” behind persistent emotional patterns You might not have all the answers right now and that’s okay. Our work together will offer a supportive space to explore your inner world, understand the roots of your current struggles, and begin to relate to yourself with greater compassion and clarity. My approach is thoughtful, nonjudgmental, and rooted in psychoanalytic principles, meaning we’ll look beyond surface symptoms to uncover deeper dynamics that shape how you experience yourself and others. Therapy can be a powerful space for reflection, healing, and change. If you're ready to begin that process or even just curious about it I welcome the opportunity to meet you where you are and walk alongside you as you grow.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with eight years of experience in hospice and palliative care, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the complexities of grief and loss. My work has placed me alongside individuals and families facing the emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges that come with end-of-life experiences. This unique perspective has shaped how I use grief therapy as both a therapeutic approach and a compassionate tool for healing.
Trauma-informed care is not a specific technique, but rather a comprehensive approach that informs every aspect of how I engage with clients. Over the years, I have received training in TIC principles as outlined by SAMHSA, including safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural humility. I understand that trauma — whether acute, chronic, or complex — deeply impacts neurological, emotional, and relational functioning. Rather than asking "What’s wrong with you?" I ask "What happened to you?" This shift in perspective has profoundly shaped how I assess, diagnose, and treat clients. I recognize the importance of attuning to signs of trauma in both overt symptoms (e.g., hypervigilance, avoidance, dissociation) and more subtle behavioral patterns like resistance or emotional numbing.
Over the past eight years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have integrated psychoanalytic principles into my clinical practice to deepen client insight, explore unconscious patterns, and support long-term emotional growth. My training and ongoing supervision in psychoanalytic theory have shaped the way I listen, formulate cases, and work with transference and countertransference in the therapeutic relationship. I’ve applied psychoanalytic techniques across diverse clinical settings, including outpatient mental health clinics and private practice, working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and personality dynamics. My approach emphasizes the therapeutic alliance, allowing space for the unfolding of unconscious material through free association, resistance analysis, and interpretation of defense mechanisms. I place strong value on understanding developmental history and internal object relations, and I am attentive to how early relational templates influence present-day functioning. While remaining grounded in clinical social work values, I employ a psychodynamic lens to support my clients in achieving greater self-awareness and emotional resilience.
