Hi, I’m Scott, a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adults and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, substance use, and relationship challenges. Many of the people I work with feel stuck in painful patterns, overwhelmed by emotions, or unsure how to move forward despite wanting real change. Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin creating a different way of living. I also specialize in men’s mental health and supporting veterans facing the unique stressors of service, transition, and identity. I provide a nonjudgmental, supportive space where you can safely explore your experiences while gaining insight into thoughts, behaviors, and relationship patterns that may no longer serve you. My trauma-informed approach is compassionate and collaborative, balancing empathy with gentle, honest feedback to support meaningful change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, my priority is getting to know you, your story, and what brings you to therapy. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and respected. I will ask thoughtful questions with curiosity and compassion, but you will always be in the driver's seat. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Together, we will begin identifying your goals and create a plan that feels meaningful and tailored to your needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Like many people, I have experienced my own challenges and difficult seasons in life. Those experiences have deepened my empathy, strengthened my resilience, and shaped the way I show up as a therapist. I understand that healing is rarely a straight path, and I believe lasting change comes from feeling both accepted and challenged. In our work together, I will hold space for your experiences with compassion while also helping you recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I am not a therapist who simply listens. When appropriate, I will gently challenge unhelpful beliefs and behaviors, always with respect and your goals in mind. My hope is that you leave each session feeling understood, supported, and equipped with practical tools to move forward.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with adults and couples who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives. My ideal clients are open to self reflection and willing to explore new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding rather than repeating old patterns that no longer serve them. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, low self esteem, or a major life transition, I value working with individuals who are motivated to better understand themselves and build a more fulfilling life. You do not need to have everything figured out. You only need a willingness to begin the process of change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we examine unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier ways of responding to difficult situations, and build practical skills to manage anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship challenges. The goal is to create lasting changes that improve emotional wellbeing and everyday functioning.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients respond to difficult thoughts and emotions with greater flexibility rather than trying to avoid or fight them. Together, we focus on accepting what cannot be controlled, making room for uncomfortable emotions, and taking meaningful action based on your values. The goal is to help you build a life that feels purposeful, even when life is challenging.

EMDR

I use EMDR to help clients process painful or traumatic experiences that continue to affect their lives in the present. Rather than repeatedly talking through difficult memories, EMDR helps the brain process them in a healthier way so they become less overwhelming over time. The goal is to reduce the emotional impact of past experiences and help you move forward with greater confidence and peace.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a person centered approach to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts and emotions. I believe that feeling genuinely heard, understood, and accepted provides the foundation for meaningful change. Rather than telling you what to do, I work alongside you to help you discover your own strengths, gain insight, and move toward the life you want.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients develop practical skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and responding to difficult situations in healthier ways. Together, we focus on building awareness, increasing emotional regulation, strengthening communication, and developing coping strategies that can be used in everyday life. The goal is to help you better understand your emotions while creating more effective ways to navigate challenges.
