New to Grow
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have over 14 years of experience working in private practice with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have also worked as a school counselor for 23 years. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, coping with grief and loss, abuse/domestic violence, and anger management. I completed extensive research for my dissertation in the areas of grief and the positive and negative effects of support systems. Outside of behavioral health care and in my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family.
During our first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment where we begin getting to know one another. I believe the first session is an important opportunity to build rapport, discuss what brings you to therapy, and explore your strengths, challenges, and goals. We will review your history, discuss any current concerns, and work together to identify what you hope to achieve through therapy. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable sharing your experiences. Together, we will develop therapeutic goals and begin creating a plan that is tailored to your unique needs.
I bring empathy, compassion, and authenticity to each session while creating a safe and supportive space for growth. Using a collaborative and strengths-based approach, I help clients build insight, develop effective coping skills, increase resilience, and work toward meaningful and lasting change.
My ideal clients are children, adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, or life transitions who are seeking support, growth, and practical strategies for change. I enjoy working with individuals who are motivated to gain insight, build coping skills, improve their overall quality of life, and develop greater confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being in a supportive and collaborative therapeutic environment.
Other specialties
I identify as
Humanistic
In my practice, I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and accepted. I believe that when people are provided with empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard, they are better able to explore their experiences, gain insight, and move toward their goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. The way we think about a situation influences how we feel emotionally, and those feelings often affect how we respond or behave. Sometimes people develop unhelpful thinking patterns that can lead to emotional distress or behaviors that keep them stuck. In my practice, I help clients identify these patterns, challenge thoughts that may not be accurate or helpful, and develop healthier ways of thinking and coping. I value CBT because it is practical, goal-oriented, and gives clients tools they can use outside of therapy. It helps clients understand that while they may not be able to control every situation, they can learn to manage their thoughts and responses in ways that improve their emotional well-being and overall quality of life.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Therapy by helping clients focus on their strengths, goals, and what is already working in their lives. Instead of concentrating solely on problems, I support clients in identifying practical solutions and small steps they can take toward positive change. I find this approach valuable because it empowers clients, builds confidence, and helps them recognize their ability to create meaningful change in their lives.
Eclectic
I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, meaning I tailor my therapeutic interventions to the unique needs of each client. By integrating techniques from CBT, Humanistic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and other evidence-based approaches when appropriate, I can provide personalized care that supports clients in achieving their goals. I believe therapy is most effective when it is flexible, collaborative, and adapted to the individual rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
