I'm Madelyn, I specialize in anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, and relational stress, with a focus on complex family dynamics. Many of my clients are high-achieving professionals or college students who appear “put together” but feel overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted. I support adults navigating guilt, grief, or confusion that can arise when setting boundaries or creating distance from emotionally harmful loved ones. I help clients process their feelings and relationship decisions while discovering what feels healthiest and most empowering.
Clients should expect to feel heard, validated, and empowered to reach their goals. Clients can expect to have a balanced dialogue with me as their provider and have my undivided attention. I will also provide constructive feedback that aligns with clients' personal goals.
I believe therapy should be personalized, intentional, and grounded in evidence-based care. I integrate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy, tailoring treatment to each client’s goals and needs.
The clients I typically work with come to therapy for relationship issues, family issues, school/work related stress, anxiety, depression, and complex trauma. We work together collaboratively to create a comprehensive treatment plan that aligns with their goals. We focus on healthy boundary setting, communication skills, and breaking ineffective patterns/behaviors.
Other specialties
I identify as
EMDR
I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which I incorporate into my practice to help clients process and resolve trauma. Utilizing the structured eight-phase approach of EMDR, I guide clients through recalling distressing experiences while engaging in bilateral stimulation, known as guided eye movements. This process helps to desensitize the emotional impact of traumatic memories and reprocess them into more adaptive understandings. By integrating EMDR with other therapeutic modalities, I support clients in reducing symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and other trauma-related conditions, fostering healing and personal growth.
Trauma-Focused CBT
In my practice, I use TF-CBT to help clients process traumatic memories, develop coping strategies, and challenge distorted beliefs related to their experiences. Through a collaborative and structured approach, I work with clients to reduce trauma symptoms, enhance emotional regulation, and promote resilience, ultimately facilitating their journey towards recovery and improved mental health.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I have significant experience with Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), which I utilize to help clients identify and build upon their existing strengths and resources to achieve their goals. SFT is a future-oriented, goal-directed approach that emphasizes finding practical solutions rather than focusing on problems. In my practice, I collaborate with clients to identify their desired outcomes, explore times when the problem was less severe or absent, and develop strategies to recreate those successful moments. By focusing on what works and fostering a sense of hope and agency, I support clients in making positive changes and achieving tangible results in a relatively short period. This approach is particularly effective for clients seeking quick and practical resolutions to specific challenges in their lives.
