As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) for almost 20 years, my interest is to help you determine and achieve your goals through the counseling experience. Taking small steps toward success helps you gain confidence, that you can make changes in your life. The ultimate goal of counseling is learning to be your own Therapist. My background as an LPC is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which simply means reframing your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Another experience, as a counselor, is in Cognitive Processing therapy (CPT) which is the treatment of trauma using a form of CBT. Other additional experiences are in the treatment of anger management, anxiety, depression, stress management, intimacy and relationship issues, and OCD. Hi, I'm Ruth Do you find life to be stressful and overwhelming? Are work and relationships causing too much stress and anxiety? Is the anxiety leading to feelings of depression and lack of motivation? Are mindfulness and feeling present something that you are not sure how to achieve? You can find therapy to be a place that is safe for you to build confidence, learn to manage your emotions, stress, anxiety , and depression. If you have experienced trauma, therapy can be a place that helps you to realize you can build tools and skills to overcome. I utilize evidence-based treatments in the course of therapy which help with overcoming emotional deregulation, difficulty with establishing consistent habits, and forming healthy relationships. There are many evidence-based techniques that I utilize to help with employing the effectiveness of therapy such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques.
