Hi, I'm Kalisha and I'm a clinical social worker licensed in both California and Texas. Are you feeling an increase in stress or anxiety that feels like it is too much to carry on your own? Does it seem like you are losing motivation or energy for things you normally enjoy? Are you struggling with healing after a traumatic life event? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have made the right choice by making this important decision to start therapy. I know seeking help can be hard. You’ve likely been debating seeking help for months, if not years, but I'm so glad you have taken the courageous step of being here and I am ready to hold space for you. I provide mental health counseling to children, adolescents, and young adults. I support clients struggling with anxiety and depression process their thoughts and feelings so that they can learn safe and healthy coping skills to respond to those challenging experiences. Some of the modalities I use are cognitive behavioral interventions, talk therapy, and mindfulness. I am motivated by my clients' desire to heal, learn, and grow. Healing is sacred and I provide a safe space for you to share your experiences, process the impact, and release your stress so you can be present.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Therapy is an ongoing process and the pace is determined by you. Our first few sessions will be focused on rapport building and establishing the foundation of our therapeutic relationship. I will ask about your reason for coming to therapy and what your therapeutic goals are. In our time together I will provide evidence-based interventions to support you with the challenges you are facing. I will consistently hold space for you to process your thoughts and feelings while learning new skills to move forward. My goal for you in each of our sessions is to be able to release a little bit more of whatever is holding you back from being your best self.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
Common reasons for seeking individual therapy are (but not limited to): Depression Anxiety Major life changes Low self-esteem Identity Career Family conflict Trauma Some of the modalities I use to address these issues are cognitive behavioral interventions, talk therapy, client-centered therapy, and mindfulness.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I'm passionate about supporting communities of color and helping all of my clients improve their overall well-being. My life’s journey paired with my education has afforded me countless learning opportunities that have shaped me into the therapist that I am today. I use techniques such as mindfulness, client-centered therapy, and cognitive behavioral interventions to create a safe space for my clients to process, reflect, learn, grow and eventually go forth on their own. I believe in the power of resilience and I understand that by sharing our stories and receiving the validation that we deserve we can heal the hurt and trauma we have carried for far too long. I care about you, your family, and your story. You can trust that I will treat you with respect, dignity and compassion.
