About me

Hello there, I’m Mercy, a dual board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and Family nurse practitioner. Do you struggle with a lack of attention, poor focus or difficulty concentrating on important tasks? Are you constantly worrying about your health, finances, family, or your relationships? Do you feel scared that something bad may happen to you or your loved ones? Is it hard for you to just enjoy being yourself? I am dedicated to helping patients across the lifespan, navigate and address their mental health problems. I will do the same for you. I utilize a wholistic approach and integrate both medication and talk/support therapy. Seeking mental health care can be very overwhelming and scary, and making the right choice of provider is crucial. As your provider, I will establish a comfortable, and safe space for you to explore, heal, and grow. During our sessions together, I will treat you with respect, compassion and understanding, exploring every evidence-based medication or technique possible to help you overcome the challenges that have been holding you back. In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I will listen to and ask questions about your symptoms and the duration of these symptoms. I will assess, diagnose, prescribe medication or provide support therapy for you as needed. No matter what you're dealing with; be it attention and focus issues, panic attacks, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, sleep problems, personality problems, anger and irritability issues, relationship issues, or addiction problems. I will initiate treatment on day one.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

Medication management, Motivational Interviewing, supportive therapy, individual long and short-term psychotherapy. Pharmacotherapy utilizing SSRI, SNRI, TCA, MAOIs, anticonvulsants, anti-psychotics, mood stabilizers, stimulants, non-stimulants, etc. Referral for EC, EKG, Lab workup etc. if needed. other referrals as needed

Dr. Abunaw has clear purpose, direction, and focus for my mental health outcomes. She dissects the issues and gets to positive, applicable solutions.
