I believe that trauma is experienced in relationship and through relationship trauma is healed as well. It's my hope that I will always be the kind of clinician with whom my client can develop a relationship that enables them to experience a measure of healing during each encounter we have. It is also my hope that I will empower every client, through providing them with all of my knowledge and skills, in a manner that will work me out of a job. My agenda is to provide each client with skills that, when implemented, will carry them through every challenging situation that they might encounter so they can be successful in living life on purpose.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect that the first session will be geared towards our getting to know each other. They can also expect that the session will focused on my building and understanding of why they feel they need therapy and the goal/s they feel is important to them.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths is my agility with integrating my skills, knowledge, and talents to meet their needs in manner that is respectful and compassionate. I pride myself on always being honest, transparent, and an active listener who is open-minded.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a Evidenced Based cognitive-behavioral treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related problems. I began the extensive training process in 2023 and I was certified in this Evidenced based model in 2024. The goal of the therapist is to identify and explore how your trauma or traumas have changed your thoughts and beliefs, and how some of these ways of thinking may keep you “stuck” in your symptoms associated with the trauma(s). Even more CPT does not involve repeatedly reviewing the details of your trauma(s). However, CPT does seek to examine the experiences in order to understand how they have affected your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The overall goals of CPT are to improve your PTSD symptoms, and any associated symptoms you may have (such as depression, anxiety, guilt, or shame). It also aims to improve your day-to- day living. I have at least 10-15 clients who are actively engaged in the treatment regimen now. Additionally, I have had at least 5-10 client who have graduated and experienced significant improvements in their lives overall. This approach can be used in individual or group therapies.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Skills Training in Affect and Interpersonal Regulation- (STAIRS) I was trained and and received my certification in this Evidenced Based Treatment in 2023. I have been using this treatment approach for the past 1.5 years and found it to be highly effective, and flexible in its application, in reducing emotionally driven challenges my clients experience. STAIRs is an Evidenced Based Treatment model developed for individuals who have experienced traumatic stressors whether they stem from combat, sexual trauma, physical assaults, childhood abuses, experiences of mass violence and/or loss of life. STAIR consists of several core treatment components that are designed, to be provided in a flexible manner, to address the unique needs of adolescent and adult trauma survivors who struggle with emotion regulation and interpersonal challenges. I have at least 5-10 clients who are actively engaged in the treatment regimen now. Additionally, I have had 15 clients who have graduated and experienced significant improvements in their ability to be emotionally regulated and improved interpersonal relationship interactions overall. This approach can be used in individual or group therapies.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This therapeutic approach has been a staple in my clinical tool box since I become licensed in 2008. It provides the bases for rapport building, motivational interviewing, information gathering to complete psychosocial assessments, treatment plan development, and ongoing therapeutic engagement. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has proven to be an effective treatment for a range of challenges which include depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness etc... There have been numerous research studies that confirm that CBT improves functioning and quality of life for clients when used appropriately. I also use CBT to maintain gains achieved while providing Evidenced Based treatment modalities that are also staples of my clinical tool box.

Trauma-Focused CBT

As noted by Bessel Vander Kolk trauma that takes place in relationship can only be healed in a relationship. I too believe that it is through our relationships that trauma is sometimes created and perpetuated through-out generations. I also believe, that with intentional effort, that the family unit is also the vehicle that trauma can be healed. As a African American i realized while engaging my dissertation research that we all suffer from intergenerational trauma that is has been passed down to us from the past. Often times it engages us through normalized abuses used by the family unit both conscious and subconsciously. Alternatives for Families: a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT) is a trauma-informed evidence-based treatment (EBT) designed to improve the relationships between children and caregivers in families involved in arguments/conflict, physical force/discipline/aggression, child physical abuse, or child behavior problems. though I have not directly initiated this therapeutic approach in it entirety. I have used the lenses of this approach to address cases wherein intergenerational family dysfunctions and or attachment patterns from roots of maladaptive/destructive life patterns in the lives of my clients today. I obtained my certification in this Evidenced Treatment approach in
