Hi everyone! My name is Marrianna White and I am an experienced clinical EMDR therapist. I am passionate about working with diverse populations and providing a safe space for ALL individuals: BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and clients of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, and belief systems. My approach to treatment is a combination of Client Centered and Solutions Focused. Her therapeutic style is down-to-earth, genuine, encouraging, and empowering.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will review practice policies and limits of confidentiality followed by diving into history taking. We will explore the specific challenges you're facing which will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. We will conclude your first session by discussing your goals for therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with many different populations in a plethora of settings for the past 7 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping individuals first identify the root causes of their challenges and then identify realistic actionable steps that leads to measurable progress.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT practices to help my clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs, and work to replace them with more realistic and positive ones. CBT practices also include engaging in behavioral exercises that help my clients gradually confront and reduce their fears or maladaptive behaviors. I have been using CBT as a treatment approach over the course of 7 years.

Couples Counseling

In practice, couples counseling focuses on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and enhancing emotional intimacy between partners through guided conversations and structured activities. It may also involve identifying and addressing underlying issues within the unit, such as unmet needs or past traumas, and developing strategies for healthier interactions and relationship dynamics. I have been supporting partners in couples therapy for 4 years.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) involves teaching clients skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness to help them manage intense emotions and improve relationships. Clients participate in skill building where they learn to practice these strategies in real-life situations to achieve a balanced, more stable emotional state. I have been using DBT as a treatment approach over the course of 7 years.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) involves guiding clients through recalling distressing memories while simultaneously focusing on external stimuli, such as side-to-side (bilateral) eye movements, to reduce the emotional impact of these memories. We work to reprocess traumatic experiences, transforming negative beliefs and sensations associated with the trauma into more adaptive, less distressing ones.
