Alina Smith
I’m Alina Smith, a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, individualized psychiatric care and medication management. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood changes, difficulty concentrating, sleep concerns, and life stress. My approach is warm, respectful, and collaborative. I want every client to feel heard, understood, and comfortable discussing their concerns without fear of judgment.
First session
During our first session, we will take time to understand what brought you to care and what you hope will improve. I will ask about your current symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, previous medications, sleep, daily functioning, relationships, and any challenges affecting your well-being. We will discuss possible diagnoses and treatment options in clear, understandable language. You will have time to ask questions and share any concerns about medication. Together, we will create a personalized treatment plan that reflects your needs, preferences, and goals. My priority is for you to leave the appointment feeling heard, informed, and confident about the next steps.
Strengths
I bring a calm, supportive, and nonjudgmental presence to each session. My nursing background has taught me to look at the whole person rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or list of symptoms. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and explain the reasoning behind treatment recommendations. I will hold space when you need support, but I will also respectfully challenge patterns that may be keeping you from moving forward. My goal is to help you feel empowered, involved, and supported throughout your treatment.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an adult experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood changes, sleep concerns, difficulty concentrating, or feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands. They may be seeking answers, greater stability, or support finding a treatment plan that works. I welcome clients who value honest communication and want to take an active, collaborative role in their mental health care. You do not have to have everything figured out—only a willingness to begin.
Treatment methods
Motivational Interviewing
I use medication management as a collaborative process. We will review your symptoms, daily functioning, sleep, medical history, past treatment experiences, and personal goals. I explain medication options in clear language, including potential benefits and side effects, so you can make informed decisions about your care. We will regularly assess your progress and adjust the treatment plan when needed.
