Melissa Patak
After spending 25 years in the legal field, I returned to school to pursue a career in counseling and earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. My desire to go into counseling stems from my personal experience of witnessing others struggle with mental health issues. I provide individual therapy with both adolescents and adults. My experience includes working in psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment center, and juvenile detention.
During my free time, I enjoy treasure hunting at thrift stores, gardening, traveling, and spending time with my family and dogs (Witten the lab, Dizzy the Jack Russell, and Beast the mixed breed).
I help individuals manage their anxiety, stress, depression, and relationship issues. We will work together to identify what is not working and how to improve your overall functioning. During my free time, I enjoy reading about different modalities and interventions for treating trauma and attachment theory. First session
In our first session, you can expect that I will spend time getting to know you while also collecting background information for intake. You will be able to ask any and all questions, and any concerns about past and/or future counseling.
Strengths
My strengths are having compassion, empathy, love of learning and growing as a therapist, and possessing a great love for helping others.
