Hi! I’m Shannon, a therapist and fellow mom specializing in maternal mental health. I support Millennial and Gen Z moms navigating pregnancy, postpartum anxiety and depression, identity shifts, and the mental load of motherhood. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or not like yourself, we’ll work together to calm your nervous system, build supportive coping tools, and reconnect with what matters most in this season of motherhood.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll slow down and make space to talk about what this season of motherhood has been like for you. We’ll review your mental health history, current concerns, and what you’re hoping to gain from therapy. Because I specialize in maternal mental health, I’ll also ask about your pregnancy or reproductive history, baby’s temperament and feeding experiences. Also, the support systems in your life so I can better understand your motherhood journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My approach combines evidence-based therapies with the perspective of someone who truly understands the emotional transition into motherhood. After the birth of my first daughter, I experienced postpartum anxiety and remember the insecurity and self-doubt that can come with new motherhood. That experience shaped the way I practice today; to remind mothers they are enough! I help moms calm their nervous systems, develop practical coping tools, and reconnect with the confidence that they are enough in motherhood. I also recognize the realities of parenting young children, so babies and noises of motherhood are always welcome in session. If you need to feed, rock your baby, or have Ms. Rachel playing in the background, that’s completely okay here. Motherhood was never meant to be navigated alone, and you deserve support in this season too.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with moms who feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unlike themselves during pregnancy, postpartum and early motherhood. You may notice racing thoughts, constant worry about your baby, irritability or “mom rage,” intrusive thoughts, or a heavy mental load that feels hard to keep up with. Many of the moms I support feel pressure to be a “good mom” while quietly struggling with anxiety, sadness, guilt, or identity changes. You might find yourself comparing your motherhood experience to others, questioning if you’re doing enough, or feeling disconnected from the version of yourself you used to be. I support women who want to break generational patterns, better understand their emotions, and feel more grounded and confident in motherhood. Some are also navigating relationship changes, birth experiences that didn’t go as planned, or fears about postpartum anxiety or depression returning with another pregnancy. In therapy, we focus on calming the nervous system, building practical coping skills, and reconnecting with what matters most to you in this season of motherhood. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you feel understood, validated, and less alone while developing tools that help you feel more present, and connected as a mom.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach shown to effectively treat mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy, postpartum, and throughout motherhood. In practice, I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier ways of responding to stressors, and build practical coping skills to manage anxiety, mood changes, and the emotional demands of motherhood.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based therapy helps clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without judgment, which can reduce feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, and emotional reactivity. By practicing skills such as grounding, breath awareness, and present-moment focus, clients learn how to calm their nervous system, manage racing thoughts, and feel more emotionally balanced during pregnancy, postpartum, and throughout motherhood.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps mothers learn how to make space for difficult thoughts and emotions—such as anxiety, guilt, or self-doubt—without feeling controlled by them. This approach supports clients in reconnecting with their personal values and taking small, meaningful steps toward the kind of parent and person they want to be.
