I have completed rigorous academic and clinical training through esteemed programs at Vanderbilt University, Emory University, and Georgia College & State University. This depth of expertise uniquely equips me to deliver compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to all adults, women, and minors across diverse backgrounds and needs.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I start with brief introductions in the first session, then spend time getting to know you through relaxed communication and review of your history. I also often interject humor in my sessions when appropriate.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

From a clinician standpoint, I am holistic, compassionate, knowledgeable, an active listener and love the work I do. In addition to medication management, I provide brief therapy during sessions and use a shared-decision making approach with establishing the plan of care. Your opinion matters! From a person/perspective, I am fun/loving, adventurous, loyal and devoted wife, mother, friend, colleague and survivor. My super power is optimism. Let’s connect!

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy all aspects of care for women, young adults and minors. My clients are usually at a low if not the lowest point in their life, juggling responsibilities at home, school and/or work as well as transitioning to different stages of life. I provide an in-depth assessment and individualized approach to care including education, support and prescription medication management when appropriate.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Unlike traditional forms of therapy that take time to analyze problems, pathology, and past life events, SFBT concentrates on finding solutions in the present and exploring one’s hope for the future in order to find a quick and pragmatic resolution of one’s problems. This method takes the approach that you know what you need to do to improve your own life and, with the appropriate coaching and questioning, are capable of finding the best solutions.

Supportive

Supportive psychotherapy is a type of therapy that primarily focuses on providing emotional support, encouragement, and validation during difficult life circumstances or psychological challenges. You are encouraged to talk about your feelings, concerns, and problems in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a therapy method that helps people resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior. It is a practical, empathetic, and short-term process that takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy is an in-depth form of talk therapy for any age and is primarily used to treat depression and other serious psychological disorders, especially in those who have lost meaning in their lives and have difficulty forming or maintaining personal relationships. Individuals who have the capacity to be self-reflective and are looking to obtain insight into themselves and their behavior are best suited to this type of therapy.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered therapy employs a non-authoritative approach that allows one to take more of a lead in sessions such that, in the process, they discover their own solutions. During person-centered therapy, I act as a compassionate facilitator, listening without judgment and acknowledging one’s experience without shifting the conversation in another direction. I am there to encourage and support the client without interrupting or interfering with the process of self-discovery, as one uncovers what hurts and what is needed to repair.
