New to Grow
I’m Niambi Bloom, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, milspouse, mom of two, and dog mom. I earned my BA in Psychology from New York University and went on to complete my MSSW at Columbia University, focusing on Clinical Social Work in Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities. Over the years, I’ve worked in crisis settings, supported families as a birth doula, and taught cultural competency to future providers. My journey to becoming a therapist began with curiosity about the human mind and passion for helping others. Working in crisis settings, as a birth doula, and teaching cultural competency, I noticed pregnant and postpartum moms often lack needed mental health support. This fueled my commitment to creating a safe space for this community.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Your first session is about getting to know each other and helping you feel comfortable. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your family, and anything you're ready to share. It's a time to build rapport and begin shaping your goals together. We go at your pace, and my priority is making sure you feel supported, heard, and safe.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strength is my passion for being a support to those who may feel unheard. As a mom, I’ve been there, so I talk about all the things “no one warns you about,” during postpartum and motherhood. You aren’t alone, and I am dedicated to walking with moms through this journey to balance. I take an eclectic approach, drawing from several evidence-based modalities to meet each postpartum mom where she is. I also incorporate mindfulness practices to help mothers slow down, reconnect with themselves, and navigate the emotional transitions of postpartum life with greater self-compassion.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I specialize in supporting women through the highs and lows of pregnancy and postpartum; helping them manage anxiety, depression, stress and life transitions. My practice is a safe, supportive space where you can reconnect with yourself and feel empowered as you navigate parenthood. Whether you’re sharing heavy emotions or simply needing someone to talk things through with, I’m here to listen and support you every step of the way. Together, we can work on managing negative thoughts, building confidence, and reconnecting with yourself so you can feel like YOU again— vibrant, strong, and whole. I take a collaborative approach to goal setting, working with you to identify what matters most—whether feeling more like yourself, managing anxiety, or finding balance in motherhood. We break goals into manageable steps and check in regularly. Using CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused strategies, I help you move toward change.
Eclectic
take an eclectic approach, drawing from several evidence-based modalities to meet each postpartum mom where she is. I integrate skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help challenge unhelpful thoughts and build emotional regulation, while using solution-focused techniques and motivational interviewing to highlight strengths and support meaningful change. I also incorporate mindfulness practices to help mothers slow down, reconnect with themselves, and navigate the emotional transitions of postpartum life with greater self-compassion.
