Vienna Beck
My name is Vienna, and I love to be myself, because I think that helps you feel comfortable being yourself too. I am fun and playful, I never give up on you or your child, and I feel passionate about celebrating successes big and small. I love to sing, play games, make art, or just talk-- every session I run looks different from the last!
First session
We will chat, not too formally because I want us to feel comfortable with each other, and figure out together what your child needs. I will ask you about your hopes for therapy, and ask a lot of questions about your child's background and experiences, because that can tell me so much about where they are at now. And I will try to check in with you, as the parent, as well to figure out how I can support you in your parenting goals!
Strengths
I love to try new things and experiment to see what therapeutic approach will work best for you-- I can adapt very quickly depending on what I perceive to be needed in the moment! Every child has their own strengths and finding those is part of the exciting process. I have worked with children for over 12 years and am excited to meet yours!
Ideal clients
I love children and youth who bring their creativity, personality, energy and hope into the therapy room, and who are willing to try new things to begin seeing how their life can start to look different in a positive way. I also love working with parents who are willing to take a good look at themselves and think honestly about how they can better support their child.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I believe in taking your child's lead to discover what works best each session, and I try to be adaptable while still providing as much structure as is helpful in creating a sense of safety.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have fun activities for children and teens of all ages for discovering the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how to harness that understanding for change.
Play Therapy
I believe in the power of puppet shows, dress up, sand trays and more to work through those experiences which words cannot access.
