New to Grow
Hello, my name is Cecelia Hooks, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing telehealth services to adults ages 18 and older. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee and have over 30 years of experience in the mental health field. I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, and a variety of life stressors. My goal is to provide a supportive and compassionate environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives. Using evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual's needs, I help clients develop effective coping strategies, build resilience, and improve their overall well-being.
It's normal to feel a mix of curiosity and nerves before your first therapy session. During our first meeting, I'll ask questions about what brought you to therapy, your mental health history, and your social and personal background. We may also complete some mental health screening questionnaires to help me better understand your experiences and current concerns. We'll discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and work together to identify goals that are meaningful to you. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, answer any questions you may have, and begin developing a plan that supports your needs.
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to build positive, supportive, and meaningful relationships with clients. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for growth, healing, and lasting change. I approach each client with empathy, compassion, and respect, recognizing that every person has their own unique journey and life experiences. I believe that everyone deserves to live a life with peace, calm, purpose, and meaning. My goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and supported as they navigate challenges, discover their strengths, and work toward creating the life they envision for themselves.
My therapeutic style is a strong fit for adults ages 18–64 who are seeking individual therapy and support for depression, anxiety, grief, and life stressors. I help clients navigate challenging situations by providing education, fostering self-awareness, and building practical skills that enhance overall well-being and quality of life. I am committed to creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe exploring difficult emotions, experiences, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, grounded in the belief that each person has the capacity for growth, resilience, and meaningful change.

I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT helps clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns while developing healthier ways of thinking and responding to life's challenges. Through this approach, clients learn practical skills such as problem-solving, relaxation techniques, positive self-talk, and effective coping strategies, which can be particularly helpful in managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief, and other mental health concerns. It also equips clients with tools to navigate stressful situations, regulate emotions, and reduce the likelihood of symptom recurrence. Having used CBT extensively in my practice, I have seen its effectiveness in helping individuals build resilience, improve emotional well-being, and create meaningful, lasting change.
