About me

First of all, I LOVE what I do, and it is one of my greatest joys to help people on their journey to feeling better. I tend to be somewhat informal, and employ humor in sessions, and hopefully be someone to whom people can easily relate. I’m also kind of a nerd - I game; I have too many weather apps on my phone; I love science fiction and fantasy novels/movies. I love fitness, and all sorts of outdoor activities. I love animals and have several pets. Did I mention I love what I do? I’d love to meet you!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Of course there are the requisite questions all therapists need to ask at the beginning, but also I really want to use the time to get to know YOU, and you get to know me. We are people, and this is an important relationship, and the better I know you the better I can discern how to best help you!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

In addition to a lot of years providing all sorts of therapy, I have had a lot of life in my life, and hopefully some of my life experiences will help me help you in our journey together. I incorporate “use of self” into therapy a lot, which means sharing personal experiences and trials in such a way that they can be relatable and hopefully helpful to the client.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I feel I work best with people who are interested in examining their entire lives to help them figure out what is happening right now, which can take some time. At the same time, I also hope my clients will be open and willing to try things that are new to them (and possibly not comfortable) that might help them in the here and now, such as meditation, seeing a dietitian, starting an exercise regimen, attending a 22-Step meeting, seeing a psychiatrist.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

The best way to describe this is that I closely examine what’s happened in childhood, and try to connect it to thinking and behavior and beliefs that are happening NOW. The now is what’s most important, of course, but I feel it’s SO helpful to make the connection as to why things may be the way they are in the present day.
