I believe that YOU are the best expert of you! I've taken my 18 years of experience and created a safe space for mental health therapy. I envision a therapeutic space to empower you to embrace personal transformation and healing through a harmonious connection with nature, fostering autonomy, and initiating long-term, positive change. My commitment lies in providing a safe and supportive space for therapy, free from judgment. I am both a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) & a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) In my spare time I enjoy indulging in creating art and being in the artistic community, spending time with my adult children and our cats, volunteering with Pride and GPS, and in the summertime I raise honeybees and native butterflies for wild release.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Coming in and opening up about your past isn't easy, but living with your trauma hasn't been easy either. * * * * * You wake up before your alarm, your heart already racing. Getting out of bed feels like an enormous task. You push yourself to do it, but every movement feels heavy and deliberate. As you head out for the day, you notice how hyper-aware you are of your surroundings. Every noise seems amplified, every movement in your peripheral vision startles you. You feel on edge, as if something bad could happen at any moment. At work, it’s hard to concentrate. Your mind keeps drifting back to the trauma, replaying scenes and feelings. Interacting with colleagues is difficult; you put on a mask, trying to seem okay when you’re not. The effort to appear normal is exhausting. Home provides a brief respite, but socializing is draining. You choose to eat alone, preferring the quiet, though it doesn’t bring much comfort. The afternoon drags on, each task taking twice as long as it should. You feel frustrated with yourself for not being able to function like you used to. You try to relax, but your mind is restless. You attempt to watch TV or read, but it’s hard to focus. Nighttime is the hardest. As you prepare for bed, you feel the familiar anxiety creeping in. You dread the nightmares and the restless sleep. Lying in bed, you try to calm your mind, but it’s a struggle. You feel alone in your experience, even though you know others care about you. You Don't Have To Live Like This Anymore! * * * * * My therapeutic style is flexible and integrative, drawing from several approaches that will best fit your unique needs, because you are a unique person! I often pull techniques from: cognitive behavioral Therapy (CBT), and use techniques like EMDR and Prolonged Exposure therapy to support your growth and progress. In sessions, I strive to be challenging, yet remain compassionate and provide a comfortable, empowering, and judgment free space. I recognize how intimidating, scary, and sometimes discouraging, the therapy process can be. But I meet you where you’re at, go at your pace and hope that in providing a safe space, it will give you a starting point to feel seen and heard. I would love to connect and begin your journey to self-improvement.

My treatment methods

Positive Psychology

In my therapy sessions, I incorporate positive psychology theory to help clients focus on their strengths, cultivate a growth mindset, and enhance their overall well-being. By emphasizing positive emotions, meaningful engagement, and personal achievements, I guide clients to build resilience, foster gratitude, and develop a sense of purpose. This approach not only aids in overcoming challenges but also promotes a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In therapy sessions, I use positive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients focus on their strengths and build resilience. By identifying and reinforcing positive thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, clients learn to challenge and replace negative patterns. This approach not only addresses current issues but also empowers clients to maintain a positive outlook and develop healthy coping mechanisms for the future. Through techniques such as gratitude exercises, strength-based interventions, and positive reframing, we work together to enhance well-being and foster a more fulfilling life.

Compassion Focused

In my therapy sessions, I use Positive Compassion Focused Theory (CFT) to help clients develop self-compassion and reduce self-criticism. By integrating principles of kindness, understanding, and empathy, I guide clients to cultivate a compassionate mindset towards themselves and others. This approach not only fosters emotional resilience but also enhances overall well-being, empowering clients to navigate challenges with greater self-awareness and inner strength.

EMDR

In therapy sessions, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process traumatic memories. EMDR involves guiding clients through a series of eye movements or other bilateral stimulation while they focus on distressing thoughts or memories. This process helps to reduce the emotional intensity of the memories and allows for healthier cognitive processing, leading to improved mental well-being.

Feminist

In my therapy sessions, I use feminist theory to empower clients by acknowledging and addressing the influence of societal and structural inequalities on their mental health. This approach involves validating their experiences, promoting self-advocacy, and fostering a sense of agency. I strive to create a collaborative and inclusive space where clients feel heard and supported, while also challenging oppressive norms and encouraging critical reflection on gender roles and power dynamics.
